What 6.5 inch speakers fit doors?

For those who changed their front speakers w/6.5s, which ones did you install w/o major cutting or drilling onto the door panels? I'm trying to keep it as basic as possible for changing the base front door speakers.

thanks

please read the sticky at the top of this forum called r56 speaker replacement.. It has the answer to just about any audio question you can come up with.

Thats a long sticky. Its in there somewhere, I saw it before but was wondering if someone would be so kind to let me know instead of directing me to the so-obvious sticky. If I was a resident expert, I'd help out a fellow noob instead of directing them to a 17 page sticky for them to filter through. I realize the sticky but I just wanted to see if someone who knows could save me some time, thats all.

The reason you were reffered to the Sticky (and yes it is long) is because after asking the one question you will com back and ask another question and then another and another. All fo these question will be answered if you bothered to read the sticky.

Also please read the site guide lines

https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/guidelines

Especially section #3 which states:

SEARCH
Before posting, use the Search function to see if there has already been a thread on the same subject. Do not start identical threads or cross-post the same thread in different forums.

Again we are here to help but if all the answers are in a current thread then it would be appreciated if you would not post extra threads about subjects that are already on going.

You might want to read that sticky (all 17 pgs) yourself like I did for the 2nd time last night. There were very few posts mentioning installing 6.5 speakers directly, even fewer that had specific model numbers that were not components. I fully agree with you & Motormouth that that sticky is a treasure chest of information thats greatly helped but did not answer this one simple question. I haven't done a search but did find posts elsewhere (such as Coolvinnys) of others who had done what I was asking about.

Now if it is the norm for oldtimers & experts @ NAM to chide noobs for starting Q&A threads as being nothing more that lazy & needlessly cluttering this forum, I'm not sure what use you are here. Excuse me for not knowing this forum was for experts only and read-only for noobs. If the best help you can give is to direct us to a sticky, just don't. Ignore my ignorance & this thread will die. Just don't direct me to a sticky which I've already read, that doesn't have the exact info I was looking for. I'm somewhat surprised by this: other question thread I started were answered by others who knew. In those threads, there were others who jumped in saying they had the same questions I did & was beneficial to them also. At worst, it was a short lived refresher for those interested.

Okay to answer your question.

The answer is in post #1 of the Stickey

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...794-post1.html

It states:

Front lowers (in doors) are 5.25" one ways with a 5.5" opening for the basket. The mounting depth is about 3.125". You can up to a 6.5" in the lower door as long as the basket opening is no bigger than 5.5"

Question answered.

OK, I'll continue this pissing contest:

It CAN accept up to a 6.5 IF the basket is 5.5 or less.

Excuse me for NOT ***-U-ME-ing that ALL 6.5s will fit w/o any DRILLING into the trim panel and/or other supports that have no pre-drilled holes, and that ALL 6.5s have baskets less than 5.5

I am an admitted aftermarket stereo noob but am very familiar with auto trim panels and would really like to avoid and unnecessary drilling into areas not designed for drilling or holding any weight

Furthermore, excuse me for asking the so-called experts a very simple question for those who've made the change. I'll just assume the stickies will help me balance and blueprint my engine with sticks n stones.

Your post helped NADA, Capt. Obvious.

My post wasn't to berate you - merely to point out that most useful thread that does answer 99% of questions.

There are about 39 threads in this sub-forum with the word speaker in thier title according to the search function.

This particular thread may be of interest to you as several people talked about which speakers they used:

Thanks for the 411, my apologies to you for mis-interpreting your intentions. At that time, I could not locate the info in the sticky I saw earlier and to be re-directed to that same sticky was a little, shall I say, frustrating. Once again, thanks for directing to where I need to look.

Perfectly acceptable.

But there is no need to shout when the answer is right were you were asked to look.

But again if you read the thread you will find that there is no drilling of the "auto trim panels" the speakers are behind the trim panels. and you will find that the place that the speakers are screwed to are designed to hold the weight.

No need to be sarcastic as you asked a question and the answer was where you were told it was. May be the question you meant to ask was

"What brand of speakers will fit?" then you would have gotten a different response.

We can not really now what you are asking if you don't spell it out better for us.

I joined just to reply as a noob and never use forums much. I read a lot of them, just not too much replying. Mostly because the threads are so old when I search for them. But this guy DID ask which brand... Seriously people? I am ashamed at your treatment to him. I would never join this forum. Bunch of sad pathetic boys not willing to be humble. He asked which speakers fit without modification. Right before that he stated 6.5 inch. If I know 6.5 is what he was mentioning, and said which ones without modification, put it together. Really.... put it together genius. Why say all he had to do was ask the brand, WHEN HE ALREADY DID IN DIFFERENT WORDS????? I came looking for the same thing, and nowhere else did anyone in the sticky or here name which ones they used that fit good. I am looking up speakers and not many give a basket depth on eBay or Amazon. Y'all just make me sick. I responded to this thread JUST to show how pissed I felt reading how you treated him, and belittled him. He had every right to use caps and speak as he did. Shame on you experts and regulars. Enjoy. My first and last post ever. 👌
