Part numbers:
61131378139
61131376204 12 ea.
61131378137
61131376193 12 ea.

I know those qty's are correct for what we need, but the 2nd part # shows it as coming as a set of 4 (picture on the website). Do you remember if it really came with 4 or is it just qty 1 pin? If it comes as a set of 4, then we just need to order qty 3. I called, they weren't sure...

Hi Everyone. I finished the install of the Bass600 over the weekend. Thanks everyone for all of the very helpful information in this thread, it made the install pretty easy. I am happy with the results and now think it is time to replace the fronts

If you check out the pics by euells in the beginning of this thread you can see what mine looks like. I did the install the exact same way as he did so no point in posting my own pics.

Amazon Sale

Just a heads up guys. Amazon is selling it for $70 right now (12/14/09). Seems like a no brainer now, so I bought two

I would jump on this deal soon if you are considering buying it. In the past three days I saw it go from $90=>$80=>$70. I don't think it is going to go much lower.

Also, the 10" Bass1200 is selling for $110.

I saw that amazon deal! I got it + the 8-guage kit right away!

I hope to install it someday soon before it's freezing cold; LaserBlue07MCS where did you end up hiding the sub? I've got a clubman, I definitely want to put it where the 'spare' thing is.

Front speaker replacements, ah yes, some day...

+1 On the HIGH LEVEL INPUTS. I installed mine yesterday and just couldn't make it work through low levels. Im pretty much satisfied with the results. Must admit the power is limited. I've set all the dials all the way up and get pretty decent bass. I Was hoping to have some margin to adjust up or down.
Does anyone know for sure if there is a difference in power output by using either hi level or low level inputs?

Could people summarize the basics for a moment here?

Tapping into the high level inputs means what, exactly? Which pins of this infamous Xsomethingsomething connector?

I realize this info is out there, but it helps newcomers to re-summarize here and there. thanks!

Mine looks just like this. Not sure what a Clubman looks like, so not sure if this will work for you.

OK, so need some help. Last night I got in the car and no bass. The weird thing is that is seems that there is no bass from the fronts or the sub, almost like the 100hz cutoff is now being applied to those speakers. The rear speakers are fine.

Only thing I could think of is somehow wires got exposed and are touching, but I would think that would just trip the protection mode in the head unit. Any thoughts

Nope, I have the Hifi. During the install I didn't even remove the pins, used taps instead.

If you are really losing bass in the front, then I have no idea. If it is just the Bass600, check that the blue light on the remote is on, and it hasn't been turned down. If that is OK, check wire connections.

You know, I thought the boss600 came with a 12v cig-lighter-to-unit, and now I realize it doesn't. What's the way to get that going, are there 12v cig-lighter things that are ready to take the wires that come with the unit for power? Or is the connector on the unit a standard type that 12v cig-lighters can be bought for?

Still on my help-the-n00b here...

So, if I have the non-hifi, and the bass600...

The bass600 has the high-level input that goes from a white connector thing (looks proprietary-ish) to five wires.

Thus, from bass600 wire to the x9331 side of things (female side). Hooking to front speakers since IIRC the rears don't get the bass (?):
white/black to black/violet (FL-)
white to black/brown (FL+)
gray/black to yellow/black (FR-)
gray to yellow/brown (FR+)
black to large-brown (ground)

The part I don't get -- the bass600 wires are super short; what are they thinking? should I just go get five similar guage wires and run them all all the way from the boot to the x9331??
Edit: would this do? http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 (16awg, 4 conductor speaker cable)... thinking that the fifth, ground, I can always just ground it elsewhere near the back of the boot?

You can buy a cig lighter plug online, or a store like Radio Shlock (at least they used to carry them) and wire it up yourself.

You have to wire up the connections yourself. The Bass600 comes with a plug you can use for that side of the wires. Or, you can find the same connector at a good electronic supply. It is a fairly generic connector.

On the car side of the wires, there are a few options, but all DIY. The least invasive and most expensive is to buy the parts for the X9331 connector and make a pass-through connector that also has wires from the front channels to the Bass600 connector.

I started to post a thread with all the X9331 connector part numbers, diagram, and other info in it, but it was accidentally lost. I'll try to find the energy to put it all together again sometime.

i have a bass600 but even after reading this thread i'm still unsure on how to install it in the boot. i have the hifi so i'm planning to tap the hi-level input into the rear amp, since the wire colors are described here. however, i'd rather use the hifi amp's 2 subwoofer channel outputs as hi-level sources for the bass600. anyone here knows the wiring for the hifi amp's speaker outputs? with the head unit connected to the car's computer, i'm trying to stay away from it's 4 output channels to minimize the risk of messing it up. suggestions please...

Yep, totally confusing. I am gonna connect the sub directly to my ipod this weekend to see if there is a problem with the unit itself. Light turns and it is producing sound, just not as low as what is coming from the rears. I am going to check out all of the wiring I ran as well. Seems to be the most logical problem area.

ISTHAR...
Keep going !
Don't forget to post pictures... I'm right behind you with my clubman... post pics of how you mount it. I was going to try to put it in the lower basement (the wheel well; my Audi actually has the subwoofer mounted IN the spare wheel)... let me know how it works.

:-( FAIL

Oh well. Spent all afternoon w/ help from a friend, we tapped into the connector, ran wire to the back -- four wires, front speakers. The Boss600 was powered by wires going to a 12v car plug.

The big ??? was the high-level input ground wire... we tested plugging it with a test wire to a bolt on the hinge-thing for the rear barn doors.. and I could tell the bass was working. A little weak though... we were wondering where to put ground, tried a few places...

Then I try to start the car and zap-blam-booz-every error code shows up, xenons light up wierd (one side only, then another...). I was really fearing some kind of short...

To sum up, it was just the battery that was gone. But the way the mini reacts when it can't start up from the start button is unlike any other "key" car; it was spooky. I ended up taking out the wires, the boss, etc. Left the taps but closed up the trim and panels.

So, defeated I am, for now.

Question:
1) the high level input ground wire appears to matter (when it wasn't touching a proper ground, the bass was pretty much not working). Correct?
2) Can I connect the high level speaker-input ground wire to the same ground that the 12v is using?
3) if (2) is a NO-NO, anybody have recommended ground spots near the rear of a clubman?

1) yes - the ground is in the middle of the "top row"
2) yes

Btw, your ground wire should be as short as possible.
