SIRIUS?

I've got an '09 JCW on order and was contemplating adding the Sirius option before production. Does the Sirius unit have features like saving artists/songs in memory so when it's playing on another channel it alerts you? I have this feature now on my current XM portable and I really like it. From the sounds of it, the unit is just a basic one. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No you can not save an artist or song. Also, if you need more time to think about it, the Sirius unit can easily be installed by the dealer. It would be exactly like the factory does and I think the prices are pretty much the same.

Actually the labor costs are extra, and then there are also programing changes that need to be made so the price is more and depending on the dealer as to how much more.

With the current merger going on who really know what will happen though. Yo may want to rethink and let some time pass to see what is really happening with the merger and channel changes before diving into this.

EDIT: BTW have you seent eh new lineups for Sirius and XM it looks to me like a lot of channels have been dropped.

This thread has more on that subject as well - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=157913

Yep, ditto. The MINI Sirius allows 12 preset stations or you can view channels in either numerical order (All Channels) or By Category.

I miss the artist/song alerts that my Sportster gave me, but at least I don't have to deal with the annoying suction cup and satellite box above my dash. It's a tradeoff.

Yes, as of 11/12, most of the music channels have now been merged. There are now only six music channels that differ between the two services.

Just recently have been listening to Sirius since the change. Both in my car and on my satellite tv service. I like some of the new channels and the fact that they've changed a lot of their playlists. They definitely get old after a while.
