Just curious, has anyone retrofit 6NF (smartphone option) yet
Let's also assume their car came with the comfort USB option which has the center arm rest with power and the USB port in the center console.
What changes for your extra $100 bucks with mini when you order an 09? Is it just a cable that moves the USB port into the arm rest and combines the power/antenna part of the apple connector?
Anyone with access to a Mini parts catalogue, check what's different?

Bump...
I am new to these forums. I bought my Clubbie ('09 PW/B Manual) last Friday and am up to 400 wonderful miles! But, my wife has been chastizing me about the time I am spending in front of the computer learning about my new car.
I am hoping anyone can answer this question. I would really like to see a schematic or parts list for both 6ND and the 6NE+6NF combo.
Mostly, I want to know if the 6NE+6NF combo somehow includes the guts of the 'Y' cable that comes with 6ND.

Also the last update I have heard about for the electronics was Jan 09 which should have the smartphone in it but may not. I know that some of the BMW wiring digrams are behind the cars by 6-8 months and it makes it very difficult for the techs to fix the cars at times.

nicknbecka & schatzy62- Thank you! I ran into both of your names quite a bit in the various threads I read. I especially liked the spreadsheet.
Unfortunately, i get this when I go to the second site:
We're sorry, but the MINI TIS website was designed for Internet Explorer 5.0+ and Netscape 6.0+ Web-Browsers running on the Microsoft Windows operating system. Your computer must be using the Microsoft Windows operating system to view this site.
Seriously? I can't use a mac or linux? wow. Is it some special schematic reader? I guess I will have to do it from work.

What about this:

I did this to move my ipod into a more permanent location. I couldn't be happier with the results. I didn't move the aux/usb connector as that poster did. I got the same results.

I am looking to extend cables up to a dash mount that is up by the steering wheel mounted to the back of the tach. I have an iPhone 3G and want to be able to do GPS functions and what not. I don't want to hide such a beautiful piece of artwork in my armrest.
I ran across the thread where someone took apart the y cable to show the electronics, and i wonder where that little box is for the 6NE/6NF option. Maybe I can order that specific part and do a little chop and hack to do what I want. I worry about charging using the y cable that came with the car.

It requires the Adobe SVG viewer plug-in for the schematics. I have only been able to use the website under Internet Explorer (even Firefox does not work). BTW, you can download it and install locally on your machine: http://www.mcaw.info/wds/MINITIS.zip (46 MB)
And yes the MINI TIS site MUST!!!!! use Internet Explorer on a Windows Operation System, and JAVA and SVG must be installed. And it has not worked on Windows 7. Internet Explorer must be version 5-7, Early versions of IE 8 has some problems at times with the JAVA but it has been corrected in the latest updates. And Firefox, Opera, and other browsers will not work.

Did you find out if the option could be retrofit?

I am interested in an update as well. I would like the functionality of using my iPhone to listen to music while it is plugged into the cradle in the arm rest. I already have an iPod plugged into the aux/USB via the iPod cable put sometimes it would be nice to listen to what is on the iPhone while it charges in the cradle.
