What's the latest opinion on what to replace the 6x9s with?

We're about to do it. I was thinking of putting the new kicker 6" low profile subs in but my local audio installer said we would miss rear fill and I think he's right. We all know 6x9s are awful.

Anyone figured out the best option for them?

TIA!:)

Nice magnet! Is it strickly a sub or does it let some mids in? Review?

these are old school freeair Kicker subs. I'm running them on a Rockford Power Series amp and people who have heard the car swear there's a big old box in the back. There's nothing visible.

as for an alternative to these....something that's easily found now...CDT makes a nice 6x9 mid/sub. About $150/pr.

I've never been one much for rear fill in a car anyways. I don't miss rear speakers one bit.

Man most serious people are into old school stuff. They look amazing. I've researched the CDT. They don't go down to sub range but maybe its the best alternative...

well, any 6x9 in an open environment is going to have issues getting much below 50hz.

I'm actually considering selling these, putting the CDT in as a midbass only and running proper 10" subs. Elemental Designs has a nice SQ10....3" thick sub. A pair of them will fit in a box that fills the recess in the boot nicely. The whole enclosure combo with subs will be less than 30lbs and removable. Besides, that damned well is useless anyways....it would be nice to have a flat load floor.

Interesting. Very.

Elemental Designs SQ10 are great subs I used a pair in a camaro for a customer and they loved it. Im poss going to do a pair in my new MC but not positive as to what direction I want to go with the stereo

FYI I wouldnt recommend anymore then 150wrms per sub max on the sq10, being a slim sub it had mechanical limits
