I'm an idiot...
The first time I started pulling my dash apart (years ago), and started playing with the head unit, I broke the little red adapter that holds the antenna cable to the head unit. I made it work, but a couple months ago, it made it's final voyage, and fell apart. Well, guess what, yesterday, I lost my FM/AM stations, so I pulled the radio out... Well, when I went to plug the antenna cable (which is too damn short to begin with) back into the head unit, I broke off a couple of tabs, and now it doesn't work... Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? Please help me!!!!

Adding to your post count?
I'm thinking at this point, it's gonna require a new antenna cable... and if it does, screw it, I can only imagine how much the stealership would want for that... |
So you broke the tabs on the antenna cable, or the head unit?
When you say it doesn't work, do you mean it won't stay in, or it stays in but you're not getting reception? |
A couple of tabs on the cable. Before, it would sit in there and I would have reception. Now when it's in, it goes "ScCCRrrrTTttCCCHHHH" (a static sound)...

Not trying to be mean, but it sounds like you don't know a lot about car audio as I am not certain what "tabs" you are talking about.
If I were you I would find a local audio specialist and see if they can sort it out for you. (MINI will not repair a thing, only replace). |
 I've actually installed a couple of systems in my older cars. It's hard to explain, and it I could take pictures, I would, but there are tabs on the end of the cable, and they broke off... Screw it, you've pissed me off, and now I'm gonna go take pictures

Please do take pictures i may have some input if it looks like the tab i am thinking about.
|
Yes please, pictures... :)

Why did you mess with the head unit years ago in the first place? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I want to see pictures.
