2004 S HK system, No rear but only fronts... hmmm
Howdy y'all
I have an 04 Mini S with the HK system. Noticed that I was only hearing the door speakers and nothing from the rear, only an occational pop, squeak or hiss. Tried to direct all sound to the rear but nothing. Even if the head unit is off i hear the ghosts from the back seat. Do you think the Amp is toast? Not going to bring it in to the dealer and get raped, rather change stuff out first.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jim

Unfortunately it does sound like the amp is heading down the path of destruction.
I would say that you should check the rear speakers first, but since you're getting the ghosts even when the HU is off, there isn't a point to that.
You can find some good deals on used H/K amps from people who had the H/K but switched to aftermarket bits.
Sorry to hear that your amps is on the outs.

No direct replacement that I know of. I also think that you pretty much have change most of the system if you are going to "upgrade". The HK is a very unique system.
I wanted to bump this thread again cuz I have a similar problem however not experiencing the ghost sounds when the HU is off. So I don't think my amp is on its way out. My amp cuts the rear speakers off but if I go in the back of the car and give the amp a little nudge the speakers come right back on again. I seems like there is a loose wire somewhere so I pulled the amp out and was playing with it and the speakers would not cut off at all. It doesn't happen until I mount it back in its place. Then while driving each bump that I hit causes the speakers to go out than back on and then out again. Anyone experience this and if so what was the fix?
