Hi,
does anybody know if the MINI (I have an 04 MCS) can be easily "reprogrammed" to show kilometers instead of miles, in the odometer, trip computer and maintenance reminders? The speedometer has both scales, so that's ok, although if someone has replaced it for the same reason, I'd like to know cost & complexity (if they sell just the faceplate, even better...).

Easy? Yes.
Cheap? No.
That's in the BC1 preferences. Your dealer must change those. Generally they charge 1/2hr labor for the privilege.

There are aftermarket gauge faces if you want to change that.

As for the faceplates, I know Outmotoring sells them for example, and there is a very nice thread on NAM explaining how to install them. What I was wondering is if MINI sells the faceplate by itself, or if they force you to buy the entire speedo: next time I take the car in, I'll see what Parts says...

 

BC1 = BCM = Body Control Module, basically the computer that controls your car.
Don't know if MINI sells the faceplate, but I doubt it.

Why KMs? Yearning for the autobahn (or the Great White North of Canada?)

 

Might relocate to Europe, and take the MINI with me. Forget the autobahn, the real target is the Nurburgring...
