Bluetooth help for iPhone

Hi there all you motoring fans. I know I'm supposed to find all the answers right here on this forum but after spending many hours searching I just give up. Here's the thing. I have an '06 MCS without bluetooth or Nav. I just got a new iPhone, am about to have my first service and want to get bluetooth installed. My dillemma is, do I look for an aftermarket system that will work with my iPhone and the controls on my MF steering wheel (if so what the heck is that) or do I bite the bullet (very expensive lead we're talkin' here) and get the local dealer install their bluetooth system (which presumably works with the buttons on the wheel ... but does it work with the iPhone). Also do any of these systems mute the stereo (presumably they all do) but what about voice dialing??? Do you need the Nav for that 'cause the iPhone (as you know) doesn't have that capability.

Thanx so much to any of you who might take the time to answer. And If these answers are already staring me in the face ... forgive me my sins and point the way.

Ta.

Without nav, your selection is a bit more limited. However, Mikey at www.newministuff.com has a kit that will work with the OEM buttons for a reasonable price.

I would think that it should work fine with the Iphone.

Thanx daflake for the info and the rapid reply. Any advice on pluging my iPhone into the HK system so I can use the iPod function?

I have heard that as long as you turn off the phone function that some items like DICE will work. However, I am no expert on this as I haven't even seen one yet (not released in Europe yet). Tom at EAS might be a better person to ask on this matter.

I've got the Parrot and EVO kit from mikeythemini. My iPhone works with this setup for basic bluetooth hands free. I've never gotten voice dialing to work though.

I don't have HK but I do have the Aux input and have plugged the iPhone in and it works. The wierdest thing I see is that after using Aux, when I switch back to radio sometimes I've lost all control over volume until I turn the car off completely and turn it back on. I don't use Aux very often and it doesn't happen every time so I have no idea when this started or what causes it.

Stlmini that's an option I have considered but I really love my R53. Anyone else have any experience with the iPhone and handsfree and iPod function?

We've tested with our Bluetooth kit and have full integration with the iPhone - only for NAV-equipped MINIs at this time. Non-NAV is coming next.
