How's the 07 factory Bluetooth?
 

Hey all,

I'm wondering how the factory installed bluetooth is in the 07? Looking back on it was it worth the cash? Does the voice activation work well while you are driving on the highway?

Trying to decide whether or not to get it specially since my phone is not supported by the armrest (Cingular Slvr L7)

I have the Nav system and Bluetooth. The integration is very good. When the phone rings, the stereo turns down.

When my phone actually pairs up, the whole thing works really well. My Voice command button does not work (seems to be a software problem at VDCs), but once that does, I'll let you know.

My two complaints are there isn't an adapater for my phone either. I'm not sure I really miss that too much. The storage in the armrest is great for my phone. The other problem I have is the bluetooth sometimes pairs up as soon as the car starts, and other times 10 - 15 minutes later, and sometimes not at all. It's very sporadic. Other bluetooth devices I've had in the past pair up as soon as both devices are turned on. That's what I would have expected with my phone and mini.

I am even tempted to get another phone (one of those pay by the minute phones) for a week or two just to see if it is my phone or my mini.

I have a Cingular RAZR.

The bluetooth was great. Pairing went smoothly, and when a call came in, it showed up on the display along with the caller ID if the caller was in your phone book.

I'd never used any other systems before, but I thought the one in the Mini was everything I wanted out of a handsfree system. The only thing I didn't get to test was if text messages showed up on-screen as well (I had read on Mini2 that they did).

(Past tense in this writing is due to my car's recent brain replacement has kept the bluetooth, along with much of the other Sat-Nav-based tech features, non-functional until they have a procedure by which to re-program the car successfully.)

Limited experience so far, but my T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl seems to work well with the Bluetooth. I'm not sure if an armrest adaptor is available for this phone and am not sure I would want one anyway.

My phone's address book transferred to the car w/o problem. Voice reco works fine for simple stuff, but I have not yet had a chance to try much in the way of more sophisticated commands. People say they can "hear me fine." Not sure if text messages show up on the nav system, which I also have.

One of these days soon, I plan to take the car to a parking lot with cellular coverage and explore the phone system in more depth. Learning it while motoring is not a good thing!

I've used it for 3 days (not a long test by any means) and have had no issues with a Treo 680 or a SonyEricsson 520.

Pairs easily, syncs phonebook, dials and answers.

Sound quality is good on my end and callers say it is good too.

So no complaints, it works quite well.

I agree completely. I think it works very well. We have a 2006 Dodge Charger with Bluetooth that doesn't seem to work nearly as well as the MINI.

Ok, I found a quirk. On the Treo, it seems to sync on those phone #'s that are in the quick dial screen. Palm changed the interface on the 680, so that may be the issue.

Actually, this is just as well, I have over 1500 phone numbers in the thing, but the #'s I care most about are on my quick dial.

On the SE 520, it syncs all the standard phone numbers.

I'm going to try and copy some numbers to the SIM phonebook on the Treo and see if those sync to the MINI.

Nevertheless, BT is working great.

I have used it for a month. It is great and paired easily with my Razor and Cigular 8125.

hi all... i'm completely new to having bluetooth in my car... i orderer the convenience, but don't have a sat nav. so could the screen where the radio controls are displayed, display who's calling?? how about my address book? or is that just with the sat nav. also.... could someone summarize how the bluetooth will work w/o the sat nav? i have a lg 8100, w/ voice command.

BT without Nav
 

I have the BT without the Nav as well. I have a Verizon RAZR and the incoming call does display on the radio display. My address book also displays here. I can't compare it to how it works if you have the Nav, but I'm pleased with the capabilities.

I have the BT with the nav and it's great. When I had a Blackberry, it paired right away. With my Starcom pocket pc, I had to repeat the pairing 4 times before it took. But now, they link as soon as I get in the car. All the address book and call functions appear in the nav screen. One amusing side note: When I was walking around my MINI dealer's show room waiting for my car from service, my blackberry kept picking up bt's from bmws/mini's and asking me if I wanted to pair with them.

I have the T-Mobile Blackberry curve. I love it and have no problems pairing. The only thing is that when a call comes in the phone thru the speakers is really loud, it scares the cr*p out of passengers.

You can turn down volume using the volume controls that work the stereo, either the knob or the steering wheel buttons. While it is ringing or while you are on a phone call, try adjusting the volume.

I bought a Razr since it was on their list. Because it's an older phone AT&T had no trouble giving me one free to replace my current phone.

My previous phone was not on the Mini's list and didn't work. I could recieve calls but not make them.

Once I got the Razr, everything has worked perfectly. No body can tell I'm in a car and it rings, mutes the radio volume, shows the caller ID on the Nav screen. It's just a matter of hitting the idrive button or the phone button on the steering wheel to accept the call. I also use the voice recognition for making calls. I didn't have to pre-program anything for it to work. I can just say "call home" and it finds home in my phone's address book.

It's a nice feature to have.
