JCW and Tuner File is Excellent. JCW, Special Tuner file, and Manifold is ...

AMAZING!

I have been running the Tuner file for the last two months, and I cannot believe the difference in the car and that people would contemplate replacing it with the old file because there is a "flat spot". There was only one direction...more.

I have now added the special tuner file and the manifold and it is awesome. It totally transforms the sound of the JCW. It is not only louder, but more importantly it is meaner. There is a big difference in both torque and power (or are those the same things).

The only other mod I have is the GRS Intercooler, which is also very good.

Any JCW's out there, I would not hesitate to do this. The difference is dramatic and like the intercooler is fairly quick to remove before heading to the dealer.

Also, great service from Volker.

Cool!

Glad you like the Tuner file and MTH header. Time for a dyno now!

I will be doing the tuner file with Tradiuz soon. We will Dyno my bone stock (well JCW) 05 before the file... drive it for 100 miles that day and then dyno again... hope to have numbers soon!

Stay tuned!

Glad the manifold is getting good reports out in the US....people in the UK yet seem to be reluctant to try them out

Thanks for posting miniheadhunter

I am an American actually living in Spain and working in London. The car is in Spain. I don't believe they do a smog test until the car is 3 or 4 years old.

100 miles are not enough for the ECU to fully adapt. Best is to ask a dealer to re-set before uploading the MTH file. Or do 400-500 miles...

So we should do the reset? Like http://www.metroplexmini.org/forum/s...ead.php?t=9612 ? Does this reet work on the 05s?

Joel, I'll let the Volker confirm this, but I read a post from him in another thread that the odometer reset will not accomplish what he wants. He recommends a full reset (my words, not his) at the dealer. If I can find the comment, I'll link it.

The ECU can not be reset through the speedo. Only a dealer can do this.

Are there any more JCW owners with experience with this tune? It sounds very intriguing, but I would like some more stories/experiences from users if they are out there. Dyno's would be even more helpful, but that's a lot to ask...

I can attest to this also - I had loaded tuner and driven about 800 miles, then dropped back to "standard MTH" and driven 200 miles before a dyno. HP and torque results were more indicative of MTH tuner being present than the standard version.

My experience has been that about 3 tanks of gas are enough to allow the "other" ECU cache that the speedo reset doesn't clear to adapt. I've never explored asking the dealer what they would charge to clear the cache (and am hesitant to do so).

with tuner file + 20 - 25 bhp
file and header + 30 - 35 bhp

Figures based on standard JCW running on 98 (EU) Octane.

Do you have any dyno plots illustrating this 400-500 mile need for adaptation?

The Europeans use the term 'manifold' to refer to what we call a 'header'. I'm pretty sure in this case that the poster was referring to the tuner file/header combo from MTH. Or I could be all wet!

First run, tuner file with RON 95 fuel. Second run, tuner file with RON 95 fuel mixed with 10% racing formular octane booster. Third run, tuner file (Race Fuel map) with RON 95 fuel mixed with 10% racing formular octane booster.

First pic, comparison between 1st and 2nd runs.

Second pic, comparison between 2nd and 3rd runs.

For mod please see the list in my signature. Please comment the result .

Cheers
