Help! My car won't start.
I need help from the MTH experts. I've had MTH software in my car for a few months now and like it. However, I want to put the original software back in the car for the winter because I don't need the extra performance and want to use a lower grade of gas.
I tried to put the non-MTH file back in my car and now my car won't start. This is what I did: 1. Opened my old .org file 2. Clicked to write it to the car 3. Typed in the keycode they gave me for the .mth filed (because it asked for a keycode and it was the only one I had) 4. Computer loads for a minute or two and I get "PROGRAMMING FAULT" 5. I then opened my .mth file and tried to write that instead, I get "PROGRAMMING FAULT" What do I need to do to fix this? I can ID the car, but can't load any of the files. I kind of need to drive my car to work tomorrow morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Assuming that you are using the same computer and cable that you originally used to load the MTH, make sure that there is nothing else running on the computer and that the cable is seated correctly. That's all I can think of at the moment.
If its not the same computer and cabel then........ Who knows!:eek2: |
Same computer, same cable, same car.
I can read the software from my car and ID my car, but can't write either the original .org file or tuner file to my car. |
won't start
So sorry to hear about your car, I'm sure this will scare a lot of current and future customer. Hope someone can help you out on Nam or the vendor.

It happened to me on 2 uploads...
It's very scary at first, but don't get into panic and do stupid thing!lol What I did was to try to reboot the computer, and make sure every other softwares were turned off. Also, to to do a "test" download before doing an upload. This will make sure that your connection is good. Then, try to repeat the uploads when you get an error... The 2 times it didn't work for me, I got it to work after several reboots and uploads... even if there were error messages, I would still hit the upload button and see if it would works... after 9-10 tries, it would finally get to upload successfully... I hope you get your car to start soon... Worst case, if you're still under warranty, just call you local MINI dealer and play the "innocent guy" who just wake up and started his car to get to work! lol Good luck and keep up updated! |

Do not wait too long with uploading after switching ignition on. After about 1 min the ECU disconnects and no more upload can be done. In that case switch of ignition and wait a few secs until you hear a clicking noise coming from inside the dash. Then try again. And please remember NOT to have the engine running - just ignition on. We just had a customer that couldnīt load files. After several mails we found out that he had the engine running .
