'05 Cooper S JCW Chili Red

Year: 2005
Make: MINI
Model: Convertible
Price: $7999
Mileage: 89000
Color: Chili Red
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): Midwestern

2005 JCW R52 Chili Red with 88k miles: $7999. I was on the fence about selling 6 months ago, but my wife decided she wants a hard top, so I've dropped the price. Just spent $2800 in maintenance in the last 12 months.

Its a daily driver, and has 88,xxx on it, with about 100 miles a week. JCW package includes injectors, intake, exhaust (no JCW springs/brakes). Has big Brembos though! Includes either 17" R90 with new winter tires OR R95 18" wheels with new summer rubber.

Body has a few small dents noticeable upon close inspection, a few small scratches. Paint/body is 8/10 condition, looks good from 5 feet. Bonnet has faint stripe fade marks. Cosmetically, everything looks great at a glance. Look closer and you will find small imperfections here or there. From a mechanical point, everything has been done. Steering is tight after tracking down various weak points.

MORE PHOTOS ON THE WAY!

**Service**

Rear end links
Synthetic Oil Change

81K:
4 new 18" tires

Crankshaft Position Sensor O-ring
Throw Out Bearing Guide Tube
Powerflex Front Control Arm Polyurethane Bushing kit
Ireland Engineering Fixed Camber plates
Rear Main Seal
Radiator fluid changed with BMW brand
Power steering fan (MINI recall)

70k:
-Brembo brakes/drilled rotors (not JCW BBK).

Good:
-Seats in good shape
-Mechanically sound
-Zero rust
-Roof works perfectly with no leaks
-New Amsoil reusable filter (no oil required) for stock JCW intake
-Driving lights are awesome!
-Navigation

My wife wants a hard top.. All of my MINIs have been my wife's DD that I get to play with on the weekends. We sold her dream MINI 3 years ago when my youngest was born. Rear facing car seats are impossible with 2 kids in the back when you're 6 feet tall.

Her dream MINI checklist includes:

As close to mint interior/exterior with <40k miles, blue paint/white or blue roof, chrono, sunroof, LSD, JCW (ideally), chrome grill, driving lights, english leather heated seats, HK, R98 web spokes and/or R90 BBS wheels.

If you see one, let me know

Rather than wait weeks and weeks on end to see what kind of attention this post gets, and later adjusting the price accordingly.. what do you gawkers think about the price?

Even if you're not in the market, what do you think is a fair market price? No one knows better than NAMers. I'm sure this will bite me in the ***.

I think its a fair asking price - if I was in the market I'd probably be delighted to get this for in or around $8k

A nice example of a well cared and maintained Gen1. I do not know that the infamous KBB says, but that car in the 8k range is a good buy.

...pics or it didn't happen

EDIT: I stalked your car. Very close, I'm looking for Electric Blue but I wouldn't kick Space Blue to the curb. Mmmmmm, silver roof.

Would I have better luck ditching the MC40 Monte Carlo decals? I was thinking a mean center stripe.

Well, the MC40 wasn't really a 1960's Monte Carlo Rallye car either, it was a tribute. My decals weren't MC40 replicas that said "40 Years", they were replicas of the 1964 Monte Carlo Rallye car driven by Paddy Hopkirk, also a tribute/wink & nod to the MC40. They just happened to be on a hansom Chili Red JCW with R95 wheels and driving lights I dont think I'm fooling anyone.. Mini enthusiasts know it was a pre-facelift only option, and never offered in R52 form.

But.. I think what you really meant to say was that it would appeal to a greater audience with a clean center stripe because European plates and Monte Carlo decals across the bonnet aren't for everyone.

I guess what I was trying to say is that a 2005 isn't a car thats 40 years from the 1964 car - if it were a red 2004 that wasn't an MC40, but that you'd put MC40 decals on, I would have got what you were trying to do

You should probably also pop up some photos of the car with the R95's actually on it

It's not the time of year to be selling a convertible. I deal in motorcycles and this time of year I'm acquiring them because they are at their cheapest.

It may sound trivial, but I think in May or June someone would grab this car.

You also are not in an easy spot to access.

I dont have MC40 decals, no mention of 40th anniversary. I have replicas of the original Monte Carlo car.. But, we're splitting hairs here. Good point, I'll snap some pics of the R95 wheels, those are the ones I want to sell anyways. I'll slap a center stripe on, I think it'll look better anyways.. plus reach a wider appeal.

Maybe I'll keep the price steady and hang onto her until spring...

I agree with Derek86, don't sell yourself short on this car .. you're already at a pretty good asking price so hold steady until the spring

I would, I let bikes sit until the spring because they aren't registered or insured. Only cost is trickle charger and Sta-bil.

Here's what it looked like when I had the magnet center stripes on and the R90 (center cap sticker has been replaced since the photos were taken). The magnetic stripes were sold by Mini Mania, and they didn't lay completely flat as bonnet stripes. Product is junk as was Mini Mania's customer service. I complained and never heard back. I since cut the stripes to go down the center. They look good, but I dont think magnetic stripes are a good idea in general. You have to remove them to dry underneath every wash/rain.. and over time they will scratch the paint.. But at least this gives you an idea.
