Second set (from the shop) are from this spring... SO, yes those are current photos. If you want day to day update, please go to my instagram https://www.instagram.com/retrojcw/ I also updated the list of "bits & bobs" that are on the car. As I mentioned before, everything I have R53 related are included in the price. No parting, no take offs... Even if you hate my stickers, that will be your job to remove them:) |
Bump for a beautiful, clean, well optioned JCW with tasteful mods. If I could convince my wife to ditch her R52 JCW, I'd be all over this. Where did you get the grill inserts on the rear bumper?
Nice photos on your instagram BTW! I never think of shooting my JCW around town.. Probably because its not washed as often as yours, lol. Do you clay bar and wax weekly? |
Out of curiosity, is there a way to switch over the speedometer and the dash to miles from km's?

Absolutely. You just change the guage faces. The digital display can probably be recoded from km to miles by anyone who does coding. Not a big deal to get done. Check with Detroit Tuned, they aren't very far from the seller.
The only "issue" with changing gauge faces is that you would remove the "competition edition 40/64" marking on the face (the only visible "proof") of this rare edition JCW only for Canadian market  |
Wondering how to import this beauty to USA?

Price reduced to $11K US...
Christmas present anyone? |

It looks like the faces are the standard silver faces on almost all MINI’s. Couldn’t the speedo face be changed leaving the tach with the Edition number, or is there something I’m not seeing?
You're right! Tach has a sticker, not speedometer... My bad. Any changes to be done, it's on your end. Thanks. |
To my US friends:
I have no idea what is involved with importing a MINI from Canada to US. Please, do your research and see if this is a viable option for you. I can not find out any US customs information nor do I have time to do that unfortunately. I am willing to do anything required from "the seller" once you decide to buy my CHARLOTTE. Thank you. |
You basically have to contact MINI of North America with the VIN of this car, they then issue an official letter stating the car complies with all US standards (this will not be a problem for this particular car). You bring this letter, along with your Bill of Sale, Title, Temp Plates, Proof of Insurance, and CBP 7501 Custom form to the Custom checkpoint at the border. You'll pay 2.5% duty on the import.
Nice car, by the way. |
Correct. The issue I’m running into is that you can’t get that letter without being the official vehicle owner (ie have a bill of sale or title). It also takes like 10 days to get the paperwork through. So in the off chance the letter doesnt come through (unlikely but will not guarantee) I’m stuck with a car I can’t register in the US and will not be able to sell. Any thoughts /advice from you all would be much appreciated!
|
Did you talk to MINI USA? They may not issue the letter yet, but they should be able to give assurances one way or the other.
Pernaps work out an arrangement with the seller. He can hold the car until the process plays out, and maybe agree to a buy-back if it doesn’t? Just a suggestion, don’t want to speak for him. This car is a steal at this price. I’d be all over it if I didn’t already have a car that’s practically a twin of this one. |
You should not need to be the owner in order to receive the letter stating US compliance. I don't mean to doubt what you've read or gathered, but if someone at MINI is telling you that, ask to speak with someone else. If this is truly the case, then perhaps the owner could make an assist here. He seems very "hands off", but this is required for a US buyer.

CHARLOTTE is sold locally for asked price.
Thank you for the interest. Steven |
