04 40th Anniversary Ed. JCW MCS ONLY 10K MILES!

Hey guys,

My Uncle is trying to sell is 04 40th Anniversary Edition MCS with the JCW package! He purchased the car from a salvage dealer approximately a year ago. The car had been involved in a small flood while parked in the lot at the Westchester MINI dealership in Elmsford, NY. Before it was taken away and auctioned off we were lucky enough to be at the dealer that day and see how much damage, if any, it had incurred. Well, first we saw that the dirt line from the water was just above the vinyl trim beneath the door. When we opened the door, there was honsetly no more than half an inch of water above the mats. From there, my uncle traced where the car had went to, and eventually found it at a salvage dealer in New Jersey. When we got there to take a look at the car, it was sitting in the lot turned on and already a bunch of people were checking it out. I was so excited that I jumped in the car and started revvin the engine!! At the time, the car only had about 6,000 miles on it and now it only has about 10,000. The car has been mostly a weekend car, if that, and is always in his garage. It originally sold at the dealership, with the JCW package, the carbon fiber dash, and many more bells and whistles, for about $35,000 at the dealer. On top of that, the original owner installed a kick *** sound system into that was worth a lot as well.

Now I know that people get scared when they hear the words SALVAGE, but trust me this car is an absolute gem. As soon as he got the car, my uncle removed the entire carpeting and seats and completely dried the car out for a few days. From then on, all he has done is drive the car, and I mean DRIVEE the car. This MINI is definitely stronger and obviously faster than my own 2005 MCS! After driving it, I just get jealous because I wish I had waited to buy my MINI cuz I would have bought this one instead in a heart beat. The car has not given him a single problem, except close calls with speeding tickets, in the 4000+ miles that he has driven it! The only reason he is selling the car is because he needs room in the garage for that dream car he has really always wanted.

Sorry for the long story, but just seeing the ad on Autotrader for this MINI does not do this car justice. Whoever purchases this car will be getting a great deal and a lot of good times!! More details and location can be found by following this link http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ag=1&cardist=1

Thanks for looking and trust me I would love for another MINI owner to experience this car, as it is just too fun and would be most appreciated around here! PM me if you have any questions!

John

the price is negotiable, but needs to be more realistic. Yes it's the MC40 - JCW so that is worth something, but SLAVAGE kills any value in the car. A normal MCS is worth the money he is asking and it's not like the MC40 was anything more then stickers and badging. JCW is adding value, but how much, maybe $2k (remember this is used you cannot add the value of what it cost new) so figure something in the $14-16K range would be a good asking price, be luck to get out of it for anything close to that.

LgEnf -- agree, the $14k-$16k range seems more appropriate (which I'm sure is frustrating for the OP, especially if he has seen that the flooding was minor), as the salvage title kills value.

To the OP -- is this a genuine JCW package (as in modification to the engine)? The reason I'm asking is that I've seen many, many MC40s advertised as JCWs only to find out that the owner was listing it as a JCW car because it had a JCW carbon fiber dashboard (and that's all). So, to clarify, if you pop the hood and look at the engine, is there a JCW plaque on the engine?

i came close to buying one. i have to say it's a fantastic looking car but given the cost and the features, i would've just gone for an MCS w/ the sport package that has a lot of the stuff that counts

but back to his car, free bump and good luck =P

I'm wondering - isn't insuring a salvage car difficult? And what about the warranty?

If you like the car maybe you should sell your 05 and keep the MC40? Just might be simpler - but best of luck with it.

I was curious so I did a quick google - it seems that insurance and issues around salvage vary by insurance co and state:

"...Some insurance companies will refuse to insure this type of titled vehicles while others might insure it but only with liability coverage and not comprehensive or collision.

States vary on how they deal with salvage titled vehicles as well. Some do not allow them on the roads without being changed into a rebuilt title..."

http://www.carinsurance.com/kb/content12718.aspx

So it can be a great deal but worth looking into with your insurance company and DMV first

Bumpppppp

My uncle is looking for best offers over $16K, so give that number listed on Autotrader a call and shoot him a price. He is more than willing to have anyone interested to come out and see the car for themselves and drive it like they stole it!!! Once you do this, you'll understand what a great deal you are getting!! It's even perfect for that weekend/autox car, for you can ensure it as a low mileage car if you wanted to. If the link isnt working, here is his cell phone number (914) 490-4813 and his name is Nick. Thanks for looking!!

Been reading this thread for a while. 16K+ for a flood damaged vehicle with a salvaged title? Unfortunately, the options and cosmetic attributes of this vehicle mean nothing. This would be a nightmare to insure through any reputable insurance company (oxymoron). Nonetheless, good luck with the sale.

I find it interesting that you love this car, but are unwilling to sell your own Mini in order to buy this one? The price you are asking for the salvaged vehicle is close to what you could get for your 2005 MCS.

Either way...FREE BUMP!!
