Tell us about your MINI sale
I'm planning on selling my MINI and was looking for some info from those who have sold theirs already.
I was wondering:
1. How did you sell yours? (ie cars.com, Marketplace, newspaper)
2. How much did it go for?
3. How long did it take?
4. What were your specs? (miles, packages, mods, etc)

i posted my showroom MCS here and the local craigslist only as it was more a feeler. my for sale thread title MCS 14k miles with warranty is not too far down the list. you can find th details of my car there. it was a late 02 build so there were a few scared buyer on this forum. fortunately for m the car was only affectec by the sunroof rattle and the expansion tank leak which were replaced under warranty. I posted and sold for the asking price of 20k. i believe with a little patience and more local advertising on the paper, I could have gotten more out of it. yes most of you here will say that the 20k was already a highway robbery. keep in mind that the people on the forum,just like the bmw or porsche forums, try to kill the sellers on the price. also keep in mind that you wil find more potential buyers who are only to compare your car to their off of this forum. Most people here already have coopers anyway. so i would recommend cars.com. i believe it is to your benefit to maximize your sale price. that is the route I should have gone.

I put my 2002 MC, which I purposely overpriced at $17,000, on Autotrader for a month with no interest. I then switched it over to Vehix.com, which for the same price lists until it sells (instead of just a month) and immediately received some interest. I then put it on Craigslist and received equal amount of interest. I lowered the price every few weeks and ended up selling from a craigslist contact for $15,500, after about 4 months. It is hard to sell in the winter though, and also during tax season.

* Front fogs
* Union Jack on the roof
* Manual A/C controls
* Anthracite dashboard
* Leatherette seats
*16" V-spoke silver wheels

* No mods. 100% Bone stock.
That was it. Sold it for $700 over what I had paid for it originally new back in October '03.
The used car market for Mini's is a strange one. KKB has the cars close to MSRP so when selling thats what people ask but if you can get a new one then why pay the asking price?? My first car I sold on Craigs List took several weeks, the second one which I wasn't planning on selling was bought by a friends boss who happened to drive my car and loved it......my 3rd one I plan on keeping for more than a year......unless it happens again.
I sold both of the cars close to MSRP.
Both cars were DS/DS/Leather/PP/SP/HK.
Good Luck!

I sold it for $22,900.00 and bunch of parts extra to a friend, did an in&out at the VW dealership, got a tax credit (6.25% on $22,9K saved on taxes), i ended up getting closed to $24,450.00 (with tax savings) and over $1,000.00 for the exhaust and suspension mods. Not bad
