Yeah that's me!
Nice call Greekzilla, as that was me who sold the '07 JCW and bought this excellent '05 which I am more happy with than I can say. Sooooo, why am selling?? Because I love the supercharged MCS so much and want to have one for as long as possible I just ordered an '08 MCSC/JCW! This was my plan shortly after re-discovering the awesomeness of the R53 (vs R56), however, I thought I would have until late '08 to make this decision but my local dealership has only two MCSC spots left forever and ever. Thusly, I pulled the trigger last night (CHA-CHING! $42k!!!).Honestly, it breaks my heart to sell this little beast. It has brought me more pleasure than my year long ownership of an '06 Porsche Cayman S that I foolishly sold my first '05 MCS/JCW for. It was a hard decision but this keeps me in the best model car I have ever owned. I believe me that's plenty(Jag,BMW,Lexus,Porsche, more) of cars.Mini as a car and a hobby has been the best driving experience ever!
Pictures of '06 BRG/BLK MCS
I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know how to put pictures on this site. I will be happy to email pictures upon request to gregzito@zitoinsurance.com
Similar story here. Sold my beautiful silver/silver 2005 MCS (loaded, no nav, 6spd) in 2006 for new '06 Porsche Cayman S. I kept the Cayman for a little more than a year and now I'm looking for the 'perfect' low mileage '05 or '06 manual MCS. The R56 misses for me on two points--the new interior gave up the funky WWll bomber cockpit look for a more contemporary (yet plastic toy) look (it needs a refresh), and secondly I miss the supercharger whine and exhaust gurgle. The R56 however is a more refined and quicker car than the R53. Have fun with the new one!!
WOW! I have a twin!
I couldn't have shared my recent experience or feelings any better.

Great Price!
I can't believe this car isn't gone. I look at ebay and autotrader and the asking prices are just bizarre!! Most '05 are going between $20-$24k! And thats without mods!I priced this thing to basically "dump" it before new one gets here. Selling cars sucks. More fun to buy.
If you look at the completed auctions the only cars that are bringing more than $20k are new ones, meaning 07 and 08s or VERY few 05-06's. Typically the 05-06 cars are absolutely loaded and low mileage.... the ones that sold between $23-25k have JCW kits.
Having said that I don't know why your car hasn't sold at your asking price. Seems very reasonable to me. If it was red, white or dark gray i'd probably be in Cleveland right now.
I stop to see my folks in Mentor after i picked it up.

Here's the deal on wholesale. Galves is the bible on wholesale prices--this is what your local dealer looks at when you've got a trade. And I find that often the dealer will try and offer less than wholesale. Galves pricing changes every two weeks so the examples I'm going to show are already 4 weeks old and have depreciated some more. Except for a few, options are always at the new car buyer's expense. For instance, all Galves gives credit for on a MCS are: leather, moonroof, sport pkg, and nav--all the other fun things you may have added to personalize your car is absorbed by you at trade in time. OK, here are real wholesale numbers on some MCS': 2005 MCS, 36k miles, leather, moon roof, sport (and once again every other option is not a player here) $14,850 if the car is in good cosmetic and physical condition, $16,100 if the car needs nothing done--'cherry'. Another example: 2006 MCS, 30k miles, leather, moon roof, sport: $16,175 in good condition, and $17,475 in mint condition. One more...2006 MCS, 27k miles, moon roof: $15,550 in good condition, and $16,850 for mint. Forget KBB or Edmunds or NADA--get the wholesale number and work it up from there.
Thanks to all who have responded.
Interesting and informative. Especial the color comment. I conceed that BRG doesn't seem to be as popular as neither is black. Those are the only two colors I'd own but hey......Comment on mods noted, however, these are the "safe" mods that everyone seems to do.......Check Autotrader and Ebay regarding my thoughhts on above $20k on '05s. $22k and up is for cars around 30k miles.Still feel $16,999 is a steal............but I'm flexible folks!
Friday sometime.....maybe Thursday?
Pictures will be available on Autotrader.com as I just listed it. Nine photos. They say it takes 24-48 hours to hit the website. Can't wait that long? email me at gregzito@zitoinsurance.com and I'll send you pix
