Selling my 2006 MC for 17k. Is my price too high?

Buying an 08 MCS and using a Mercury Un-Stable til then. I have my Hyper Blue MC w/26k 75% freeway miles on cars.co and Craigslist and no bites.. nothing. Is my price too high at 16.999? I thought it was about right but now I question it. I've had 6 people email me and then.. nothing.. just want opinions.. I'm in no hurry to sell it but expected a little more activity, that's all. My MC pix in my gallery

Dang it seems low to me but maybe the lack of interest is becaue of the 2007 intro dragging down 2006 and before prices. Maybe you should dump the unstable and drive themini till you get another one?

I thought I had it priced right but you may be right. I got an email from someone that said they want to buy it this morning. I'll keep you posted. I don't want to put more miles on my Mini or it would be more difficult to sell it. That's why I am using the Sable for the next 6 months. I'll still drive my Mini but just around town and not on long hauls like I have been doing

Your out-the-door price was 18,300? (with tt&l)? Also sounds like there weren't many options (paint/stipes/seats?) What was your msrp?

With high miles for an '06, base model, no options, yeah might be kinda high...

Have you tried doing a price sanity check on edmunds.com or galves.com? (kbb is notoriously high) Do you have CarMax near you? They buy cars, supposed to be quick&easy to get an offer from them. That would at least give you a floor to work from for selling it.

You might also consider listing it more places (here, for instance), or selling the Mercury for now and trading the MINI on the new one when its time.

ok, I dropped it down to $15,999. I guess I'll see what happens at this price. I'm really not in a hurry to move it so I'll keep it at that price for 3 or 4 months.

Price is right but remember these are niche cars and no sunroof really narrows your market and high mileage also hurts. There seems to be a bunch that hit the auctions for dealers so the competition in your area makes it a little tougher. Hang in there, there's a buyer out there. If you really want to move it, get a dealer to run it through the auction.

You might try CarMax just to test the waters. It would be quick & painless. No commitment and it would give you a price floor to work off of.

go to galves.com and price the car correctly from the local auctions.

The killer is the mileage, way too many miles for a car one year old.

Thanks for the responses! I sold it in 2 weeks for $15.5k. It did have a lot of miles for a 1 year old car but honestly, I never had a single thing go wrong with it so the buyer got a great car. Now I will drive my crappy 99 Sable for the rest of the year til I get my 08 S BL/BL w/aero and team dynamic pro black rims.. think it's gonna be too black?

Nope, just make sure the interior is black too. I love black on black on black!

funny thing is I never would have wanted black on black but saw one with the aero at the showroom at Mountain View Mini and was amazed how great it looked. It will be interesting to see what colors come out for 2008. I may change my mind about 20 times by then. The cool part is no matter what color you choose, all Mini's look great.
