Coding our Mini's
I've come to find out that there are features hidden deep inside our cars that aren't awake. Things I'm interested in is like one touch sunroof opening and closing, all doors unlock when ignition is turned off, windows up or down on lock or unlock etc.
I'm early on in the researching but it appears there is software and equipment that can be purchased and used to activate these things. Is there anybody in our local community that knows when I'm speaking about? And if you do, do you know how to do it, or have you done it yourself? I might be interested in buying the equipment and learning how to do it myself but I was wondering if I did that, would people be interested in a small contribution to have these features turned on or whatever in their cars? This stuff ain't cheap! I'm just fishing at this point. Wondering thoughts of others. |
Are you talking about NCSexpert Mike?
I thought about getting the cable and program a few years ago, but never did... There just isnt enough left in my car to have any use of it. :( There are some good threads floating around here, and the other sites that will explain some of the stuff. It also helps if you can read and understand German. |
I'm not sure what I came across. It was programming in English but I know the NCSexpert. I've been reading up on all that. I wanna do something. The cable and computer may be the way I go but not sure at this point.
|
I'm on my way to coding!! Got the cable and software loaded and running. Got an error late in the game so I'm waiting for some input from the Coding Experts. Hoping it's a simple thing and if so, I'm gonna be dangerous :)

I did it. Works great. Took longer to get the cable and software to work then it did to actually code.
On my '14 JCW. R60, I've done the following: - Sun roof 1 touch open/close - enabled weather radio - removed legal warning on Nav screen at startup - open close window and sunroof with key fob - made it so windows will still roll up when door opened - fogs come on with parking/headlights - fogs stay on with brights and high beams are flashed - windows don’t stop rolling up when door is opened. Now, what else can I come up with? |
Mike, will your changes endure if the dealer does and update for maint.? Or will you have to recode each time?
Good job. Don |
As long as the dealer doesn't re flash the BCM, it should stay.

Oooh Mike, some of those changes sound delightful! May have to hook up with you at some point in the future... If you'd be willing to share :-)

So. I want to do this. But that NCS thread is a mess. What cable did you buy? Where can you get all the software and updates? |

But that NCS thread is a mess. What cable did you buy? Where can you get all the software and updates? Software and step by step instructions to get coding came from HERE. Like the NCS thread, it's long and painful but the posters have done a great job on keeping the 1st thread up to date on stuff that works. Download the guides - Part 1 and 2 and follow them to the letter. I run everything on my Mac using Virtural Machine and Windows 7. WILL NOT WORK ON ANY 64 BIT WINDOWS so if you have a 32 bit version, giddy-up! |
Thanks!
