I should be around and can likely attend. Interested in this and the Mt. Evans ride, just need some details.

I'm a firm "maybe." Not sure about time off situation yet, but it sure does sound like a lot of fun.

Updated post #1.

The folks getting this set in Georgetown would like the car folks to be in Georgetown and lined up by the event staff by 10:30AM.

I think that is do-able.

Thank you, Don

See this text update: I will try to capture the doc. and post it later this weekend. Still on the road. Don

Greetings From Georgetown:

We hope you can join us to celebrate the re-opening of Guanella Pass with a commemorative ribbon cutting, guest speakers, refreshments, and a parade up the pass with hikers, cyclists, Mini-Cooper cars, jeeps and more.

Please see the attached e-vite for more information about this wonderful way to "Open Summer!"

The event will take place in Georgetown, CO at 6th and Rose Street (in the historic downtown area) on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. After the ribbon cutting, our merchants and restaurants will offer celebration specials throughout Georgetown. Guanella Pass is one of only a handful of places in the nation with the designation of a national, state and historic scenic byway.

For more information or if we can answer any questions, please feel free to call 303-569-2405 or check our website at www.georgetown-colorado.org .

Sincerely,
Kerry Ann McHugh,
Mayor (Police Judge), Georgetown, CO

Via RICK G. the plan

We will meet at 6:45AM at McDonalds for MT. EVANs.

We need to be over in Georgetown, CO for Guanella Pass Summit opening at 10:30AM, so we will have some fun.

Per Rick, this mornings email to me:

Details re: Meet Me on Mt Evans (MINI5280's 8th annual) start time, location need to be posted to both the calendar and the threads, including Guanella Pass/Georgetown. In the past, we've met at the McDonald's at I-70 & Evergreen Parkway at 6:45 AM. Wheels rolling at 7:00 AM (promptly). Technically, Mt Evans road opens at 7:00 AM, so we want to get there shortly after that time. Makes it easier for us to stop along the way up and get photos without blocking traffic.

I'd like to do the Guanella Pass part but won't be able to do Mount Evans, so I'm hoping I can meet up with the rest of you in Georgetown.

Do one or do both, as you want, we will see you for the fun at 10:30.

I figured a few folks would not do MT Evans, hey I might come up for a McMuffin & Coffee and see folks as they come off MT Evans. lol

Low likelihood of making the Mt. Evans drive, but should still be on for the Georgetown fun. I see the meetup is scheduled for 10:30, but is there any particular location/rendezvous point?

I think all plans need the agenda item "Head back for Cake".

Yes, I like that too.

Just in from the GT PR lady.

Hi Don,

If you can meet me at 6th and Rose Streets...we'll line your cars up and your folks can get out and listen to the speakers, etc.
I'll be stationed right beside the corner park where there is a band stand...I'll start looking for your cute cars at 10!

Thank you!
Pam

See you at 6th and Rose around 10ish.

Don

I wonder if "K" and "Goat" are two different people, or if there's one person named "K-Goat." Either way, it sounds awesome.

Fun time, we will do the G pass run again, what a fine road all the way down the other side for a number of miles.

This could be a quarterly with lunch in GT or Idaho Springs.

Don

See my Picasa Public later today for some pictures! You might view the pictures, then go get in the MINI for a fast run up the mountains.

Guanella Pass

What a great little stretch of road, I'm looking forward to going back especially in the fall with all the aspen trees in that valley.

Here is a link to my pictures of Georgetown.

Very nice pictures, you still writing for us?

Did you see my pics on Picasa? it appears we really liked the Cobra, would love to have it.

Here is my photo album from the day, including a couple from Mt. Evans. As always, it was a blast to spend time with my MINI 5280 friends. What a great way to spend my birthday!
