Here is the info I received:
"The local RNRPCA chapter hosts a ladies-only day at a race track every year. It's a great opportunity to learn many of the same car control and handling skills we teach at Wheels in Heels. In fact many Wheels in Heels instructors also teach at this event. It's a chance to drive your car on a race track, if that happens to be on your bucket list, and learn some new skills while having a ton of fun. And, who knows, after one experience you might just be hooked and decide to join our small club of women race car drivers! Hope you can make it... details from RMRPCA below. All our best, The Wheels in Heels Team FROM RMRPCA: Ladies' Day 2011 - Are You Turned On? Date: Saturday, July 16th, 2011 * Gates open at 6:30 AM Mandatory all drivers’ meeting at 8 AM, first time drivers' meeting following the general drivers' meeting. Location: High Plains Raceway, 17 miles east of Byers on US-36 Event Registration fees: $85 per driver REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW! For those of you who participated in last year's 'Tupperware Party' come back this year to play some more on the track. Bring friends, relations, co-workers, and other assorted females. If you haven’t taken a turn on the track yet here’s your chance, ladies! And if you have, you know you want to come back. Ladies' Day is for you to feel what it’s like to take control of that performance car without a having to worry about the testosterone effect. Or, if you want to see what your daily driver will do at speed, bring it out and get the experience. If you are new to High Plains Raceway or if this is your first Drivers' Education event you will start with an instructor to learn the skills you need to drive your car at speed and in control. You will drive and learn at your own pace. You don’t need experience driving on a track, you don’t need to be hesitant because there are people out there going way too fast, You just need to be ready to have fun and learn some new skills. You don’t need to be a member of the Porsche Club to drive in this event and you don’t have to drive a Porsche – you just need to be a woman. If you don’t have a Porsche just bring a car that you are comfortable driving; no convertibles or open cars without roll bars, trucks, or large SUVs other than Cayenne. During the day there will be classroom sessions on driving skills and how what you learn at the track applies to everyday driving. You can also take a relaxing break to hang with the girlfriends, enjoy shopping some booths, get a massage, or have our on-site photographer capture how hot you look with your car.
To Register: go to www.motorsportreg.com, create an account, After the account is set up go to the ‘Calendar’ tab and find the Show Me ‘Within’ box and choose 120 miles of 80210 zip code and Search. Scroll down to July 16th, PCA Rocky Mountain Ladies Day HPR and click Register. Follow the prompts. You will receive a confirmation e-mail after you register.

I don't know if race time is involved but it definitely will show car control and handling skills with classroom instruction.
Now that my husband has his own MINI, I need to feel confident driving mine...when I was used to taking pictures before!
Let me know if you register...
Be sure to check the website for complete details. There are clothing/helmet requirements (some helmets may be available) and there is also a car inspection requirement before the event (they list participating locations).
Booyah! Got my SA2010 Bell Helmet in the mail on Saturday (ordered it a size too large) ready to go. Just waiting for tomorrow so I can register and order my rear brake pads
Trending Topics
Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to purchase the helmets? An example of the type I'm looking for would be helpful too. I know that we need either an M2005 or an SA2005 or newer one, but there seem to be several different types.
Helmets
Or maybe No0dle can suggest where she got her helmet?
You can also check with the registrar of the event to see if they have loaners...unless you want your own. That would be Susan Bucknam at 303-237-3140, 303-803-5683 or (portia@ipa.net)

BLU-BY-U (Rich) says to check www.saferacer.com He says you can get a good deal.

If you plan on doing events like these more often having your own helmet is awesome - they have loaner helmets available but only a limited number - I'd call ahead and see if one can be reserved. I got mine at saferacer.com and its full face (I prefer them to open face helmets because I can change out shields or just keep it flipped up if I'm lazy
) And if you do decide to buy there's a 10% coupon code - should still be good (worked for me): http://www.retailmenot.com/view/saferacer.com

Don't forget about the tech inspection July 6th - I just reminded myself
I'll probably be going to Prestige Imports, 9201 W Colfax, Lakewood and take a detour to Freddy's Frozen Custard on the way back to the Springs. If anyone wants to meet up and drive up there together let me know.

ARGH! i am exchanging e-mail with susan brockman just to be sure i can take the convertible and that there are still helmets to borrow/rent
she said to do the broomstick test between the windshield and the roll bars
MY BROOMSTICK IS TOO SHORT >.< . I sent her the actual measurment of just shy of 5 feet at 58" and am waiting to hear her response. I will let you know. I may be forced to steal my husbands outback or just go watch

Cheryl, it looks like the rear roll bar doesn’t deploy unless it is required – hopefully never. I would go ahead and register, come to one of the pre-techs on Wednesday, bring your owner’s manual with the page on the ‘active rollover bar’ marked. You will be required to run with the convertible top up in any event.
I am copying Tommy Dean, our Tech Inspection coordinator on this so he can weigh in.
Thanks
Susan
hmm magical mystery deploying rollbar... Max gets fancier every day

Should be a great day for all you ladies, I will be out taking pictures.
Perhaps we can get some of the other MINI folks out to cheer you on as the day progresses.
Edit: Teena, are you keeping a count of how many MINI ladies are participating?
Don

Don
The only way I can keep track of who's going is if they post here.
Don, you think we NEED to be there when the gates open at 6-something AM? There is a mandatory driver's meeting beginning at 8. When do you suggest we get there?
I was thinking of a meet-up, for those intereted, at the gas station on the NE side of Tower Roadd & I-70...but not sure of the time.
So if you want to get together and ride out there together, please let me know!
