Reviving this thread... Looking to get a tune soon. Just ordered a cai, pulley kit, and cat-back for listening pleasure. Any good installers in the area who won't f up the pulley install? Id do it myself but live in a condo.
My former tuner doesn't do Minis but has offered up his dyno to out of town Mini tuners. He's in Longmont.
And also, Im a new R53 owner. Glad to see you guys on here. Love this car to death already, can't believe how much fun it is and it's been a great daily driver. Any local meets happening soon? I'd love the opportunity to get involved with the 5280 community here.
Cheers.

At MINIs in the Mountains, there will be Way Motor Works who can install the anything and do it right. They will do it right up at MITM, there website is http://www.waymotorworks.com/
They are located in Atlanta, so they will probably be on the road this weekend to get to Winter Park by Wed.

Also, supposed to be a dyno over in Broomfield, never used them, but they say they are MINI literate.
I will look for a cross-ref I saw on another site. Here it is: http://www.5thgearauto.com/

Never heard back from TOBZ, and tried another call to no avail. A friend recommeded The Boost Creep up in Longmont. Guy seemed really nice, and I have an appointment for tomorrow. He seemed excited to get the chance to look at a Countryman. I'll report back on how things go.

Got back from a run to the The Boost Creep this morning for some Dyno runs. Harvey is a pretty cool guy, very knowledgeable and excited about what he can do. I was there for over an hour with him, and he was playing with all sorts of settings on the Dyno just to see what we can see. I'd highly recommend getting over and seeing him.
He mentioned that he's been extremely busy lately, so it might be difficult to get in there, but if you can I'd recommend it. Cost was 85$ for the dyno runs, think we went through 10 or so different runs to look at different things.

Thats really not that bad. Got to figgure that the manufacturers rated HP is at the crank, their dyno measures WHP. With all the drivetrain losses, and our altitude, I would say its about right. The big tuners really need to crack the code in the new ECU's so you can get a tune though.

In the many pulls, could you tell if you were getting all power to the front wheels or was some being pulled off to the rear?
Not sure if I remember, stick or automatic? I might have to do some pulls with my 07 on this dyno to see what the numbers are to my stock pulls from a year or so ago.
We did our stock pulls in 3rd gear on the auto in Scooter, but it was Feb. weather versus hot September.

Looks like I am a day late and a dollar short.
TOBZ, is a great tuner when it comes to EVO's and STi's, we are just geting into tuning R53 MINI's (SORRY R56 guys the software needs to be relesed first) As expected we have been running into some problems geting the ECU of the car to make the car do what we want it to do. It's just part of learning the software and how the car behaves to changes in the computer.
Our test car (My personal car) is down due to a S/C failure, so it will be a while before we can dig any deeper into the ECU to get more power.
As Don said remote tunes are always an option that works. If you need to use a dyno for the logs you need to send to the remote tuner, TOBZ will slap it up on his MUSTANG dyno for about $75.00. This will also help us start a database of dyno graphs from different cars, so we can see how much differently they run, and what we need to change.
TOBZ does not have the capability to tune any MINI but mine right now, the BYTETRONIK S/W that we are using is coded to my cars VIN#, and will not work on others cars. Unless you buy the S/W through MYNES, or WAY MOTOR WORKS you will be limmited to dyno testing only. If you decide to go this route and purchace the BYTETRONIK S/W, I can help to some extent but TOBZ is the guy who actually does the main part of the tune, and sets his prices.
Hope this helps, any questions post them up, if I dont know the answer, I WILL FIND IT.
