Yalla Yalla 2008
Our MINI is broken
unfortunately the MINI is leaking a decent amountof coolant as of last night. Schomp can not get it in until tuesday to look at it. Can we do the yalla yalla in an audi? Does any one rent MINIs?
Nobody cares what you drive
just bring the baby.

What girl wears ORANGE underwear?
None I've ever met....the retail favorites seem to be BLACK, RED and WHITE.
At least from what I've SEEN....

New Thread
Well, I buy them whenever I can. Not gonna wait for Valentine's day. No need excuses to buy anything....
And yeah we need a new thread of "mini" lingeries on board....I believe it should be a good topic since we are talking about "mini"...

You guys must really be getting anxious for some MINI action at Yalla Yalla.
It will be a great drive and the day is looking as though it is going to be warm with some light winds.
Really good swag and prizes per Chuck's posts, so bring a navigator and have a blast.
Btw, Michael what streets around town are you watching for color variations.

Some lunch thoughts
So, not sure what folks are doing for lunch at YY, but here is a thought or two.
At Old Santa Fe, you can get a package to go, then eat somewhere you see nice pull off along the way, take 15-45 minutes and you will be right on time for the afternoon fun.
Or you could grab a snack or pack a lunch. I suspect you will find one or two places along the way to grab some snacks.
For what I have overhead, there is a pretty good grill/pub that has a good pulled pork sandwich and some tasty Mexican dishes. (The person leaking the news says the service is a little slow, so plan ahead).

Great fun, despite of the giant tumble weed! Thanks to all those who
organized, plotted and planned. Will do this one again next year!

Yes, thanks to all.
Thanks to Teena, Kim, David (& Nancy) Don and Chuck (I hope I didn't miss anybody) for another memorable Yalla Yalla. I know they did much work ahead of the event and were kept busy all the Yalla Yalla day.
While I didn't participate in the event itself, I had the pleasure of transporting Mike Selander, photographer with EuroBerge Magazine, an online magazine for the whole "euro" scene -- focusing on Colorado-based European car groups. Mike assured me that YY08 will appear in their next issue. See the Sept. 08 issue at http://euroberge.com/
Near the Masonville post office, as we were waiting for MINIs to motor past us (both directions), we were amazed to see 14 (we counted 'em) wild turkeys cross the road. They were evenly spaced (about 8 ft) and very quick. Thankfully they waited until the coast was clear.

Yalla Yalla fun
I can't believe how much work was put into the Yalla Yalla! I thank you for such an amazingly fun day of thinking, arguing, driving, laughing, meeting new people and exploring new territory. The only part missing, was a lunch stop. Maybe a check point to pick up a sandwich and water bottle. We couldn't believe how bizarre was the woman who stopped our car to say she didn't appreciate us driving on her road!
Thank you, Thank you, thank youuuuuuuu!

We had a lot of fun yesterday. Thanks to all of those involved in getting this event setup. It was a great mix of twisties and straightaways, all with really good views of the hills.
Unfortunately, we also stopped for the crazy lady with the accent near the "Taxi Stop". Not sure really why we had stopped, but I thought she was a little ridiculous and "out of line".
Anyway, good to see everyone again and also meet some new "Motor"ers!

Thank You to Chuck, Teena, Don, Kim, Dave for all the hard work putting the Yalla Yalla together this year!!! WHAT A GREAT TIME!!!
I look forward to seeing alot of you at the Nov MINI5280 meeting!!!

As I said yesterday, a huge thank-you goes to David Bierbaumer (your MINI5280 VP), Don Suiter, Kim Stone & Teena Craighill. They did tons and tons of work and got really tired of driving the routes, checking questions & directions over and over again. In the end their careful attention to detail (or lack thereof) made for a great Yalla Yalla.
Next, a big MINI5280 thanks to all those that spent the day lost and befuddled. I hope you kept in mind that life, like Yalla Yalla, is all about the journey and not the destination. Also a warm welcome to those new members that joined the club during the event. You now know why we collect the money before you get lost rather then after.
Finally, a thank you and a sigh of relief goes to my son and daughter who successfully navigated the route without damage to my MINI.
Me, I just went home and went to bed.
Volunteers needed for next year by the way.

I've created a Flickr Group for us to capture our Yalla Yalla photos. If you upload photos please upload them here as well:

Chuck is a good task master with a plan, Teena and Kim are great map masters.
I enjoyed Masonville, not sure how David and Nancy liked the Hwy 66 corner, we shall see about water at a checkpoint, great idea.
Chuck, I finally feel (real old), your kids did not know the clue for Nelson Road. Your going to have to get them an internet capable cell phone. Google & Wiki works.
