It was a rhetorical question.

Anybody into Venn Diagrams?
A = Fun MINI events in Colorado
B = Events with a Lost Souls theme
C = Events in October 2008
Answer = Yalla Yalla 08. See that's fun isn't it?
What if ...
A = Yalla Yalla Quiz Questions
B = Harry Potter Trivia
C = Irish folklore

... oh that's more difficult.

So I thought for sure the Venn diagram would bring people in and swell the car count in the calendar, but alas we seem to be stuck with but 20 brave souls (or is that Lost Souls?).

Well if math doesn't bring out the masses, and cheerleaders seemed to have little effect, European swallows - nada as with the spiffy car pics and list of copious prizes, I am at a real impasse.

What can I write to expand the number of participants and get people feverish for Yalla Yalla?

Any ideas?

A few thoughts:

  • The first 50 entrants go into a drawing for 25 $5 Starbucks gift cards. Your cost is $125.
  • Anyone who pays dues gets a $5 discount. Collect 5 you pay for the Starbucks.
  • Go ahead and list the signupees in order of number. Give a prize for the #50 signupper. Watch what happens. Have them pick their own number. I will start.
Just a few thoughts. Oh, and you might get Schomp to send out the flyer to all their buyers. Shelley can tell you who will do that. Always seems to work.

Good news and Bad News

Bad News: I won't be able to make the Yalla Yalla

Good News: I'll be in Philadelphia at the World Series.

Well that is bad and good (if you're a Philly Phan).
Have fun!

Hi Guys,

Maybe a clearer explanation of what Yalla Yalla is for us newbies? I got that it is four hours of driving around and there are puzzles to solve. Puzzles at one place to get to the next? How about a recap of ones from years past or some examples?

Alas, I will not be able to make it with my new clubbie. I'm on a 60 hour work week now so I'll be staying close to home.

-Rob

p.s.
Where did you get the cool tiki? It looks like it should be a bobblehead. Is it small enough to be carried by a swallow?

I'm bringing an S-lite up for Jonathan. If I bring a few more items somebody
may need/want it could generate more entrants. (Strut brace, rear brace,
tail lights, chrome bits, stock plug wires-used, stock pulley, shift *****,
MITM plates, 27mm h-sport front sway bar-new....) Just a thought.

mmmm ... chrome bits. I like shiny things.
So bring them Bryan, if you find the finish you can set up there. Or were you planning the trench coat routine in the back alley? Psst buddy, care for some chrome bits?

So what is Yalla Yalla?
Yes it is a drive. You will be given a set of instructions and all you have to do is follow them to the finish. There we will have treats and drinks and hand out prizes.
Oh, one other thing, the directions are a little vague and obtuse. And there are quiz questions to go along with the driving directions. Oh and there are quiz questions to go along with the music, I forgot to mention the music. Everyone is given a CD of music with a theme that corresponds to this year's Yalla Yalla - Lost Souls.
So it is a mental challenge and a navigation challenge. Never fear however should you get lost, we have rented a spy satellite for the day and will be keeping a constant eye on things. And in case of emergency, you are give a last resort envelope that holds the final destination.
Hows that - more interesting?
BTW, if you dress up your MINI you can compete for the "Best Dressed" award. We will photograph every MINI in costume at the start so if you have to barter that pumpkin mask to get out of a ticket while on the route, we got you covered.

Also - For all those waiting for delivery of their new MINI, this is not a MINI only event. Drive what you have.
Remember that this event is free for members and $5 for non-members.
If you pay your membership dues and join or re-join the club, we'll even waive the $5 entry fee.

As I am unsure if I will be able to make this event due to funding for fuel, I was wondering if anyone would have an open seat for my partner-in-crime at the magazine to come along and take pictures for coverage. I promised you guys Mini content, and I can't think of any better way to get it than Yalla Yalla. let me know soon please. Thanks guys!

So does anybody need a co-pilot? Don't let the lack of a navigator be a deterrent to joining in the fun. As in the past the course is not impossible for solo drivers and there are usually extra people that are looking for a ride or navigator. Coordinate here if you are looking for a missing piece of your driving fun equation.
So who has a seat for the press? I'm sure they are neither "fair-n-balanced" nor "Liberal big media". This could make you and your MINI famous.

I've got handouts and swag for the first 50 drivers. Swag includes a Yalla Yalla poster and the afore mentioned Monster Fluffy microfiber towel. Possibly another item specifically for your car, but I'm not spilling the beans just yet.

So how long does this usually go? I need to do a family photo shoot in Boulder at 4:30. Would we be done by about 4 so I could get there? I really want to participate but I need to pay the bills too. Damn bills.
