MTTS leg 3 Las Vegas to Flagstaff, Alternate Route

I didn't totally blow it!
I motored all the way out there, a bit early too. Got too hot, so I drove back a ways and set up here.
Regrouping at Kirkland Junction. Had a classic downpour, where it's dry over one hill, flooding over the next hill, and dry around the next corner.
I met Gary Anderson from MC2 magazine, thanks for going this way man!
The one time things worked well for me in the Let's-try-to-be-like-Dave-the-photographer today.:impatient Lucky no "other" cars were hogging the parking lot.
BTW: This is Watson Lake, Granite Dells in the back.
I hurried ahead to Mingus Mountain, took only 2 pictures before CARD FULL appeared, with everyone else following. I know they wondered why I didn't take a photo, lack of planning.
But I love to drive this part, so no worries!
Hope someone got some good photos. I'm so bummed. (got to motor anyway)

Now my snapshots.
This is my first view of Gary Anderson, Editor-In-Chief of MC2 magazine. I think I surprised him in the midst of this great sweeper.
I caught up with them, and all but the convertible were able to pass this truck-on-a-truck before the longest hill in North America. Of course it got slower... and slower...
But after the first passing lane, we attempted to catch up. Notice the rain showers.
Another shot at Watson Lake. The black car sucks all the light! Perhaps someone else got a better photo.
And the other shot from Mingus. I think this is a neat corner for some reason.
It was fun motoring with you today. Thanks for making "my" roads part of MINI Takes The States!

Timing
I would not have taken the group to Watson Lake yesterday because of a monster gully-washer!
Here is a link to MC2 magazine, you can barely see Swifty parked at Kirkland Junction. http://www.mc2magazine.com/MTTS_Tour_Day_3.cfm

Kurt, thanks for meeting us and showing us the back way through Prescott.
Now I know how good the pictures my camera takes can be, I'm depressed.
That shot where you can see me in the car, I came round a bend and saw Kurt, so I slowed down to about 15mph to give him time to get a nice "action" shot. I think that may have to be used in my sig picture.
And my wheels actually aren't black. They're anthracite with a polished lip and LOTS of brake dust.
I'm glad that everyone seemed to enjoy the drive. The ongoing participants will have plenty of Interstate as the only option in Texas.

Juan's return on 89A
I met up with Juan in Jerome today. A few too many tourists to really enjoy the drive. Thought he would like pictures of himself on the road.
Leaving Jerome.
Juan, would you mind going back down, turn around, and .... ZOOM!
While we were held up by an SUV who wouldn't let us pass...
On the new stretch of 89A we couldn't resist!
Thanks for going out of your way to meet me Juan!
