MTTS "MINI takes the States"

Now its up to the groups to organize for what region of the trail we are going to join.
Unless your lucky enough to go the whole route:thumbsup: .

I feel that both the Pittstop club and WV MINI's club will need to meet in Charelston, VW and drive to Charolattesville, VA. Then you can continue if you want.
This will be our leg of the trip.

Alternate routes and points of interest will be given.
Look for the offical Press Release from MINI on NAM, Gabe (motoringfile), and MC2 in future for complete information.

MINIUSA hopes to join clubs (like we do at the dragon) and have a great time going from point A to B.
Personally this will be a great way to see the GP if some of them make the whole trip (word is some are)

Please respond if you are interested in this MINI trip.
Or the whole trip. I would like to here ideas and thoughts:thumbsup:

Looking forward to making up for the dragon i missed.

Who is Signing up for Mini Takes The States!

Hey all, I know its a ways away, but who here is gonna sign up for the Mini Takes The States Rally? Anyone doing the whole thing or just a few legs or what?

agranger 05-18-2006 01:19 PM

If our local club doesn't come up with something original, I'm thinking of driving west for a few hours, picking up w/ the caravan and following them into Dallas.

AstroBlackS 05-18-2006 05:08 PM

I'm planning on at least doing the last leg or two since it ends in CT, which is where I'm from.

blacknblue 05-18-2006 06:37 PM

Registration on their website is now open.

I'm signed up for Monterey to Flagstaff.
A few of us will pass the baton there, literally.

I hope this is a cool idea. I'll obtain some kind of wooden baton that we all can sign and pass on. When it gets to CT, whoever has it last can hand it over to MINI USA or send it back to me. (y'all will be on your honor here.) :sly:

Opinions?

I got an email on this but it had no information on signing up. Where are people registering for this?

As I live in Jersey and the caravan comes through on Labor Day weekend, I will probably zoom down to DC and ride with the group all the way up to Connecticut. All very manageable from New Jersey.

Sounds like much fun !!

Yes, that's the plan. I'm not sure what the number is that is going to make the full trip, but I do know there will be a GP on the full route to see.

Sign up here --> http://www.miniusa.com/crm/mtts/mtts.jsp

There's a thread under National Events regarding this. Maybe we can keep our posts there?

Merged the thread in MINI Talk with the existing thread in National Events

It is looking like this is more of a free-for-all event after reading the event disclaimer (MINI USA is not sponsoring or organizing this event...). I signed up for Dallas-Memphis, although I can't do the whole route. Our club has already discussed driving over to Little Rock and riding back to Memphis with the group. 6-7 hours round trip is much more managable than 17-18 hours.

One thing I did find amusing about the Memphis stop...the hotel chosen for headquarters does not have parking. You can valet for $15 or use one of the many surrounding parking garages. Interesting... If anyone needs suggestions about the Memphis stop, feel free to contact me.

I have already scheduled vacation for the 28th (recovery time) in case the group needs an escort for the obligatory Beale Street excursion. It's not my first choice for the blues, but I don't want to scare anyone by taking them to a seedier part of town :eek2: .

Starting May 22 there will be a searchable database of those who have signed up.

I just saw this, may have to do part of it.

The folks at MINI USA asked if I could create a specific place on MotoringFile where clubs will post their plans surrounding MTTS. I will be doing this with a post that will go live very shortly. MINI USA will gather the info within the comment section of this particular MF article and then coordinate it with the larger MTTS plans. I've been sitting tight on the post for a few days wating for the site to go live. Look for it on www.MotoringFile.com anytime now.

The folks at MINIUSA are very eager to get clubs involved in the drive. They just want to make sure that whatever plans they work into the MTTS schedule are indeed the final plans of each local club.

FastLaneTuning 05-19-2006 10:49 PM

I've been gone from NAM for a long time now, but it looks like I'm coming out of hiding for this event. My car has been down for nearly 1 year now while we keep building and tearing down - but I assume the final product that will debute in the next few months will be WELL worth the wait.... I hope so, because paying my monthlies with no MINI to drive is killing me!

I guess I'm the first person to state that they will be attempting the ENTIRE TRIP, huh? Its not going to be easy, but I am setting something up right now for advertising sponsorship to help alleviate the nearly $11K this trip could cost if I actually do the entire stretch. That includes renting an RV, driving it nearly 9,000 miles along with the MINI going the 4,000 for the trip, gas and food for 4 people so far.

If anyone has any BIG NAME sponsors they might want to point in my direction (hint hint, MINIUSA), please let me know if they are looking to do any advertising. I have the contribution contract agreements and website with the advertising contribution information just about complete! Think GUMBALL RALLY with MINI's only!

Thanks in advance!!!

Christy, why not the Memphis to Nashville leg? just curious why Little Rock to Memphis instead.. is it because of the scheduled stopping time and whatnot? i really haven't looked into it much..

silverwolf08 05-20-2006 10:18 PM

okay, i just looked at all the details. and Little Rock to Memphis is better for me too, though i might be able to do that AND go to Nashville. I dunno, because classes start back up on the 28th.

but this should be exciting either way! i've been looking forward to it since i got the email a while back ;)
