Sorry don't need the part. But wanted to ask if you removed it to use that dash space for something else? I like to concept of the compartment but would love to do something else with that space... but have no idea what :)
Thanks! |
Good to see that the emergency collision lock-out hasn't been tripped. Though, if it gets tripped (like while being shipped), it is easy enough to reset before installation.

This one wasn't removed from my car, I have one of these hidden compartments. This one was bought to replace mine that I thought was broken (Emergency lockout triggered). I've seen people put gauges in place of this. Otherwise not really sure what else to put there haha
That lockout keeps the box from opening during a collision. If the box opened the airbag would collide with the lid, causing bodily harm with flying shards. Good luck with sale, I know someone will want it!! |

The lockout keeps the compartment from being able to open, until manually reset. The only way to access the lockout, to manually reset it, is to remove the compartment assembly temporally from the dash. However, when it is locked closed, you cannot access the screws that need to be take out to remove the compartment. Thus, the quandary. :eek2: Maybe this is why MINI discontinued it? |
Can this be put in the newer ones that don’t have the compartment? With the newer covers fit the same to match trim? Wondering if anyone has done that.

Do you have a trim color that wasn't also available back in 2015? Not sure if there are any, but anything is possible. |
Wife has the black checker board look. Like a bigger block carbon fiber look. I read somewhere and can’t find now is when installing is regarding the colored/lighted ring. It’s fragile? Not sure how to handle that. If you can help with that I’ll take it.
