There's nothing in the Marketplace guidelines that prohibit this. I initially had the same thought - "take it to eBay if you want an auction" but decided to watch this instead and see how it turned out. Actually, cross posting a link to an auction elsewhere IS prohibited.

As a practical matter, there's little difference between bidding up and people offering a price lower than the posted price, or the seller dropping the posted price if there's no buyers. The purpose of the Marketplace is to connect sellers and buyers, there are (presently) no restrictions about how the parties reach agreement on price.
