DashCommand™ for iPhone >>> On Sale Right Now in iTunes

I'm not selling this but I wanted to give a heads up to all my fellow MINI and iPhone owners, just in case you're interested.

You may want to jump on this right away...because it'll probably be for a limited time only; but right now the app for iPhones: DashCommand™ – OBD-II gauge dashboards, scan tool, and vehicle diagnostics is 'on sale' for just $9.99 vs. $49.99 usually.

iTunes: http://appshopper.com/link/dashcommand

Keep in mind it also needs a way to communicate with the OBD II (wired or via Bluetooth) and they must be iPhone compatible.

Hopefully there are some of you out there that were looking for this type of app but thought the price tag for DashCommand™ was a bit high...now's your chance.

Again like I said; the price may not last long...could only be for hours or maybe days or just until they sell 'X' amount.

Best of luck

Yeah this is a steal... Was just looking yesterday and saw the $50 price tag which scared me off... Unfortunately my cheapo ebay adapter doesn't connect to ipad... Have to upgrade that now!

Thanks for the heads up!

Note to iPhone Users BLUETOOTH modules will not work you have to use the WiFi Modules, but other than that it all works fine, I have had it working for about a year.

It has something to do with the way that Apple uses the Bluetooth stack in the software that will not let it work with the BT based OBDII interfaces.

Get an ELM 327 WiFi module off eBay out of China for like 15 bucks and you are ready to go!

I have the ebay bluetooth version! :( thanks for the tip on the wifi though, will pick one of those up

What gauges can you get on this app? I suspect you can get water temp and know you can't get oil pressure. I'm less concerned about performance monitoring like 0-60 etc.

Thanks.

Yes I have one of the ELM 327 WiFi units I just leave it plugged in to the OBDII port all the time, and put the iPhone on the cradle and I have extra gauges now.

Update: For all those Andriods I hear it's free. I guess you know where to find it.

I have heard that also, and that the BlueTooth OBDII reader WILL work for the Android Devices, as well as Laptops. Its just the iDevices that will not work with the Bt

exocet 10-11-2013 08:17 PM

Yeah, my cheapo ebay bt adapter works fine with the old 'roid, but no dice with iphone or ipad.

Bluetooth modules work fine if you are jailbroken and get roqyBT. Then you get a $3 Bluetooth OBD reader from eBay and are good to go.

Done deal. Great find. Thanks for the heads-up!

I did the Jailbreak before, but its a pain each time a new OS comes out, that I have to wait to get the new OS till its JailBroken, its easier to just buy the apps, and stay up to date.

I paid the 50 for the DashCommand and I am not unhappy at all.

Well, it's one thing to use jailbreaking to pirate the apps, and it's another thing to circumvent the idiotic restrictions Apple places. Pirating apps is an ethically debatable action that is best left off the thread, but not being able to use Bluetooth devices because Apple says so? No thanks. RoqyBT allows you to use non-Apple-approved devices over Bluetooth - such as the ELM OBD-II scanners that DashCmd (and Harry's Laptimer) works perfectly with.

Do you want a boost gauge for your car?

If the answer is yes you now have it if you get the OBDII WiFi Adapter, as there is a skin that is a Vac/Boost Gauge.

What ever cheap small ELM 327 WiFi from China, usually about 15 to 20$ shipped

gpwpat 10-13-2013 08:44 AM

I got the same wifi obd2 from amazon. Free 2 day shipping, and if there is a problem easier to return than china. Downside. Monday is a holiday, it won't show up until Tuesday.

c0op3r 10-13-2013 09:53 AM

That explain why my Brake Pads are not getting here till Tuesday! Doh!

It's not free on android. Downloading the app gets you into a free "evaluation mode", whatever that entails, but there's an in-app purchase for $10 to unlock everything.
