New to MINIs, is this the same thing as a short shifter? Cover means you lose the leather boot?

 

This is a adapter that attach to the shift shaft underneath the car and yes it reduce the travel distance of the shifter. It doesn't give you a big difference as a full short shifter kit but I think the adapters are more than enough.
The cover is for the underneath of the car as you wot be able you your original cover so you wil need this new cover.
Personally I think this is a very good deal, if you want a short shifter this is the right thing to go!
