Heated seats

We just purchased a used 2010 Mini Cooper S convertible with leatherette interior. We would like to install heated seats for the driver/passenger. Can anyone recommend a shop and about how much? We are in Monmouth County but will drive outside the county.

Thanks

Hummmm... wish I could help but I bought mine with heated seats. They do come in handy when it's chilly out and I'm on a run with my windows down & sunroof open! I'll see what I can get from other forums I'm in:thumbsup:

Sounds like a seat specialist that handle Recaro Seats, Sparco Seats...

This might be of some help to you jrzgal22:

This company sells the parts that you need to retrofit heated seats. I don’t know if this company is any good. I am thinking about ordering one of these kits to install in my wife’s Beetle, and I was curious to see if anyone has any experience with these kits or this company in general.

you really should post this question in the second gen interior/exterior and electrical sections. you will probably get more responses.

There is a place in Burlinbgton County called Ed's Trim Shop on Marn Highway in Hainsport NJ. They do custom auto interiors and might be able to help you. I don't know the number but it is a start.

There is a good write up in the how to section of the 2nd gen mod area. Here is the link: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...8-mcs-r56.html

I was going to try the same thing for my wife's car. The problem is that the seat covers are not designed to work correctly with side impact air bags, which your car probably has. Therefore, the air bags may not work correctly in the event of an accident if you have the seat covers on.

I used to live in Monmouth County. Tough to find specialty shops in the area. There is one place that I can think of down in the Ocean Township called BodyMotion. They do a lot of work on Porsche's but may be able to help out. Another place I can think of is EuroCar in Tinton Falls or Shrewsbury.

The easiest thing may be to try and find a junkyard with a MINI that was totaled and get the passenger seat from them and just order the driver's seat.

If you're in the Staten Island area you can PM me for pricing...

Single handed

I single handedly installed my own heated seats and I had never taken an install on like that before. It wasn't that hard. Plenty of patience and time required as well as a well lit area both a plus. My switch is even in the stock position, if you didn't know Mini's you would never know...
