MINI USA Transamerica Road Trip 8/21-9/4

I'm wondering if anyone else in our club, (besides me) is considering participating in this? It sounds like it will be a blast. I'm bummed b/c they bypassed NC (could have at least come thru Asheville) but I'm willing to overlook that. I'm thinking about joining up with the caravan on 8/28 in Nashville and driving with the group for a week until they reach Charlottesville, Va. then heading home. Anyone else game???

Eric,
I thought about doing the Charleston, WV to Charlottesvillle, VA but it looks all Highway according to the itinerary.... which does not really appeal to me. Lemme know if I am reading that thing incorrectly.

Know what you mean, though, I understand that unless they do a 2 month venture around the country, someone's going to get left out. Guess were just lucky.

Keith, I think you're reading it right. They do offer some "side trips" that I assume some people will take but it does look mostly like highway driving. But I think they have to do that due to time issues. In fact, the route thru Ohio into W.Va. looks alot like the same route some of us used to return from Kings Island last year. Unforturnately, I decided to take one of those routes "off the beaten path" and it took us a looooong time to get home.

I think the biggest "fun factor" about this trip would be meeting other MINI owners from all over the country and just "hanging out" with them. That was the thing I enjoyed most about the IJ trip last summer. Anyway, I'm still thinking about doing this but haven't made any definite plans yet.

It was dicided at the Quarterly Meeting on Saturday that George K. will look into this event and post some more definite information. A few of us talked about driving up either Thursday or on Friday and meeting up with the caravan in either Charlestown WVa. or in Charlottesville Va. and driving with the group on to DC. Watch here for more information soon!
