What a great event!

Even Robin (my wife) was so impressed with the whole event, it made her want to be more involved with future m2c2 events.

Couldn't have had a better spot, incredible turn out, nice folks to hang out with, MINIs to look at all day, and a supurb dinner afterwards. Does it get any better?

Looking forward to the Spring Show...

Thanks again for making it happen George. You ROCK!

PS) did Eric make it back for "best of show" if so, how'd he do?

JJ

Fun was and should always be the first order of business. Please don't get me wrong--I am not second-guessing the voting methodology or the results.

Please read my posts as light-heartedly as I intend them to be read.

The system used was proposed and explained in advance. I believe it is the best system to use, and am in full support of both the system and the results.

Vote Score, did result in a 2-way tied score of 15 points, and a massive 4-way tie with 14 points. But, there were only five awards to hand out. If not for the limited number of trophies, both the entries tying with a 15 score could have been issued a Best in Class award, and all 4 entries tying with a 14 score could have been issued a 2nd place award using our system.

But, we had a limited number of trophies, so a tie-breaker was needed. The fairest method to use seemed to be total number of votes to break ties.

Where's the argument? I think we're all on the same side of it! I wasn't trying to make a point at all--just explaining how it played out. Posts on a message forum are the ideal format for explaining how an event played out.

I think after reading through my first post that what un-nerved one or two of you was my statement, "This is the best method for popularity..." Clearly, that's my opinion, and I probably should have omitted that, but I didn't, so there it is.

Number of votes was used to break the ties, but did not correlate directly to vote-score, as I explained how ranking moved between the two methods. I don't remember hearing or reading in advance how ties would be addressed, but maybe it was in there somewhere and I missed it. I don't know.

I felt the need to post that entire section to answer the question as to why the other 15-pointer and three other 14-pointers were or where not awarded the way they were.

I am explaining the system used, but I'm not criticizing it. And, I think it's the best system to use for all of our events which involve voting.

I don't have the ballots, but I have the scrap of paper the votes were tallied onto. I retrieved it off the ground and saw all the 14's, so I looked into it further.

As for why this can/should be posted in public or with PM, I am not worried as long as all the handlings and dealings of this club are above-board. At any suggestion or question, all records not voilating personal privacy should be made available for scrutiny and audit. Well, there goes another opinion of mine, but hopefully one fully-shared by every one of us.

George, it's great that we now have a line on a trophy manufacturer! Picking the Best, when every car in the event is so terrific is a near-impossible feat!

I'll always be the guy that does my best to be involved in our club, attends every event I possibly can (within my work schedule), prolifically posts on our forum, and holds our leaders accountable: That's just me. I am also quite meticulous and precise, as many of you can testify

Too True! Did Eric get his picture taken with Humpy Wheeler? If so, definitely post that bad boy!

I had the opportunity to pick on Tarzan Saturday, and given the opportunity, I will continue it. I will second his statement in regard to his meticulousness (if that is a word) and precision, he brings a whole new meaning to those two words.

Thanks to George for his supurb work in facilitating this wonderful get-together. Put me on the list for the spring...I am looking forward to it!

Dave

P.S. Thanks again for cleaning my pipes Joe!

Tarzan,

I appreciate the clarification, It might just be your writing style, but I and others did take your "results post" as criticism. Maybe it was the use of words such as; "Apparently" and "inquiring minds". I for one will try and adjust to your style.

With that attempt firmly in place and re-reading your latest post, I have to ask what this means, "Number of votes used to break the ties, but did not correlate directly to vote-score......." In my post I thought I explained that it did in fact correlate and that by saying, "......except it would bounce George K out of the running, and move Mark V. to Best In Class and David PW/B to 2nd Place", was made in error, at least in my mind.

My point about public discloser of vote totals vs. voting results has nothing to do with whether the voting was handled correctly or above board. I have no doubt that it was, my comment was more about people's feelings then with facts.

Please except my apology for asking for the ballots back. I was informed that they had been removed from the vehicle they had been placed in and since you had all the data, I made an assumption, and yes I know the saying. Once again, please except my apology.

I and others appreciate your enthusiasm for the club, as well as your "meticulous and precise" nature. I'm also a very meticulous and precise individual; I like to call it analytical. My wife however likes to drop all the letters to the right of the" l " when she describes me.

Again thanks for the clarification and George sign me up for the next one!

No Problem, Dave! My own pipes are NevR Dull!
That's good stuff!

Smokey, nobody needs to apologize to anyone, but thanks for so doing. The day we decide not to discuss things is the day NAM will become a mindless off-topic chat room.

Neither does it take away from the fun of each other's company nor the fantastic time had at these events.

In re-reading my first post, I can now see how the word "Apparently" lead down that road. That wasn't the intent though. I've edited out that salacious word! <G>

Who has the ballots then? Attached is the scrap paper I analyzed and from which I posted the results. They were scratched down on the back of an M2C2 flyer then tossed or blown onto the ground where I retrieved it.

Joe

Thanks for the update. I am not sure where the ballots are. They may be in that big landfill behind the Speedway that we talked about at dinner. The ballots were put on top of a box that was going in my MINI with the small paper you found folded inside. With all the breeze they must have blown out as they were on the top of the box. When I checked the box the next morning they were not there. Austin had put the box in the MINI for me and he did not remember seeing them, so I am sure they blow of the top of the box. If they don't turn up I can just print what you posted and use that.

Thanks for editing your post.

Now lets starting talking about the Annual Meeting on Saturday.

Thanks
George

George, thanks for putting this together. It was a great event. I had a lot of fun, met some new club members and enjoyed talking to all of the folks who stopped to look at the cars. We really have some great folks associated with this club.

It was truely a surprize and an honor to be voted "Best of Show". I had a very difficult time picking the 4 best looking cars. They ALL looked good to me. I had 8 or 9 numbers written down and finally had to just pick 4. It was very tough.

For those who asked, I finally decided I should go back on Sunday to represent the club and I'm glad I did. It was neat seeing all of the Best of Show winners (37 in all). There were some truely gorgeous and amazing cars out there and it was obvious that the Judges were focusing on the older and more valuable cars to award prizes to. It occured to me that they're probably not going to vote for a '03 MINI for one of the top cars over cars from all across the country worth thousands of $ more that have countless hours of restoration done on them. Otherwise, these people wouldn't bring their cars back next year. But, it was still fun participating in the parade, having so many people stop to see and ask about the car (it was the ONLY MINI there on Sunday) and yes...getting my picture made with Humpy! Thanks again for the honor and I look forward to the Spring show!

Hope to see a lot of you next Saturday at the Annual Meeting.

Eric

Well deserved indeed, Eric!! Don't be too humble now... Your car was one of only 37 out of the THOUSANDS that were present to be recognized! It's a great-looking representation of a 'modern classic'. Your time in the sun on Sunday was well-deserved!!!

George, as has been said repeatedly, 'ya done good, son'! What a great showcase ooprtunity for the M2C2 club and MINIs in general. I was at Hendrick this morning to drop on mine for the service that was held off until after this event... They had all of 2, count 'em, 2 MINIs to sell... I bet they had a great day on Saturday and more coming after this event.

Sign me up for the Spring as well!!

Well PHOOEY! I've hit my disk quota at M2C2.org, so ony the first dozen or so car pics have been posted.
For club members: http://www.m2c2.org/gallery2/thumbnails.php?album=49
I cut them all to 800x500 resolution before posting. There's a nice sketch map of how all the cars were organized and located, coordinated with the numbered car photo.

Drop me a note when I can (if I can) post the rest of the photos for the remaining 6-7 cars (sorry folks!!)

Hey guys,

It was nice to meet you all at the show. We were the couple that kept coming back again and again! Glad to see you guys had such a nice collection of cars for your first Autofair. My girlfriend is in the process of finding a new Cooper S (to replace her 02 Cooper) since we learned they aren't making electric blue anymore from you guys. We have a couple of leads and we hope to find one like she wants before they are all sold. We appreciate you all putting up with all of our questions throughout the day. I was reading through this thread and I discovered the post from "Stylin 99". Its a small world because he used to attend events with the Cobra club I'm a member of. Small world indeed. Thanks again for all the info and I'll keep you posted on our search for the "perfect mini". She wants an 05 Electric blue with a six speed, and if at all possible(probably not)a blue top. Talk to you soon.

Great pictures! The panoramas are just spell-binding! I wish I knew how to do that.

The schematic is quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen!

Great job!

Well, since you did such a nice job with the photos, especially the map, I doubled your disk space. You now have a whopping 20MB

BTW, looks like you got #4 & #5 mixed up. I believe TWISTER is the one with the graphics (#5).

Your pictures are great and your schematic is a nice touch. It was very kind of BJ to give you some more room.

Thanks to both of you.

Thanks for doing this, I'll immediately take advantage

As for the numbering, I see what you are saying, and that's due to my confusing post, most likely. The sign-up list was swiped right from George's #1 post for the AutoFair. The numbers on that post don't correlate to the numbers on the schematic on purpose. The car photo numbers match the schematic, the challenge is to see how many owners in the list from George can you match with the pictures and schematic?
I edited the desription with the schematic to better describe this...

The gauntlet has been thrown down! You've gotten one right so far (#4 in George's list matches #5 in the car pics and schematic) So now everyone has a gimme... good luck on the rest
