After my first drive, I am entrenched in the MINI ardor.javascript:%20x() I'd like to go to the Dragon and get myself in the thick of it, but I think that I may be a bit late to get accomodations.javascript:%20x()

Has anyone here been to any of the previous events?
Where would be a good place to try and stay?
How far away is too far to stay?
Which are the "can't miss events"?

Any info will be appreciated. And if others are going, maybe we could plan the trip out there.

I'm going and went last year also.

I live in Asheville so I don't stay out at the Dragon. I think that with the amount of events planned I'll be missing a lot of the social side of the Dragon by not staying.

Unfortunately I can't plan that far out with my job. So it will be a early morning on the days of the run, for me to make it in time.

Asheville is right at 95 miles from the Dragon, and the roads are alright for most of the way, interstate and 4 lane roads until the Bryson City area then they are 2 lane twisties (hwy 28)

If you can't find anything in Fontana, or Robbinsville, the nearest would be Bryson City to the East, Franklin to the South and Maryville TN to the North.

I think that there is a group from Raleigh and also one out of CLT looking to plan a gang drive out.

I'd first call Fontana and see if there are any available rooms (I think they are full). Then I would call the hotels in Robbinsville.

There are also a couple bed and breakfast places, or you might even get a room at the Motorcycle resort at Deal's Gap.

Last year's trip was so much fun that koolmini and I kept coming back every season except winter. This year, the event is going to be about 4x as big and will probably be the best and biggest MINI event in the US to date, especially considering that it is heavily skewed toward driving rather than showing off clean MINI's in a parking lot.

I meet you on the Apex drive on Saturday. Glad to hear that you are hooked. I went last year and had a great time. I just made my room reservation this past Sunday for the Microtel in Robbinsville. When I called they had only several rooms left. I am going from Charlotte by way of Greenville to meet up with a club member from Columbia.

I think they have one more available, but only on the 29th. I had to take a smoking room to stay all 3 nights, but, with everything going on, I doubt that I will be staying in the room that much.

Hi there... I still have Microtel reservation I need to release because I recently made reservation at Fontana Village. So there's at least one room available. And there were still cabins available at Fontana 10 days ago.

Hey, do you still want to come by Saturday and watch/help as I install pulley?

My wife and I are coming over from Raleigh. We are staying at Lakeview Lodge over near Bryson City

 

We'll be there, me, my wife, and our three year old.

Coming up after work Thursday and driving back on sunday.

 

Anyone leaving on Friday afternoon? I'll be heading up around 3 from Winston-Salem. Would love to have a group of owners to lead or follow!

Welcome to the M2C2 forum. I will be leaving from Charlotte on Thursday. I talked to a couple of Raleigh area MINIs at the Phil Wicks Driving School on Saturday. They said they were leaving on Thursday. I am sure there will be some leaving on Friday and will hopefully see your post.
