Spring 2011 Food Lion Auto Fair
Spring 2011 Food Lion Auto Fair

Spring 2011 Food Lion AutoFair - At Charlotte Motor Speedway On Saturday April 9th.
***IMPORTANT UPDATES***
I attended the informational meeting last night (3/15) and here are some changes:
1. We will be in a new location this year which promises A LOT of traffic which is nice, we will be in the grassy area between pit road and the start/finish line. This means we will be outside (hopefully with a warm sunny day), if it does rain we will be moved inside. We will also be allowed to set up a canopy/tent or two so we can get out of the sun (if anybody has a pop-up please let me know).
2. I have changed our meeting point for the morning because I noticed that the exit for 29/49 off 85 is closed for construction and I don't know when it will reopen. Instead of the theater we will meet at the Harley dealer at 85 and Bruton Smith (see below for map).
3. I have arranged for us to exchange judging duties with the Carolina Opel club, we have done this with the Miata club for years but I thought it was time for a change of pace. Conveniently, the Opel's are going to be set up right next to us.
M2C2 has again been invited to participate in the AutoFair car show at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday April 9th from 8:00am until 6:00pm.
We have been given space for 20 MINIs to be displayed. The AutoFair will be awarding 5 trophies to the MINIs in our club.
If you have never been to the AutoFair you are in for a treat. More than 150,000 people attend this event over a 4 day period. Please check this link for more information.

This is an honor for our club to be invited to attend this event. We need to fill all 20 spaces. You must be a club member to participate(membership is now free!). Also note that all cars are expected to stay for the entire time. The people attending the show pay to enter while we have no entry fee. Please post here to be added to the list. Once the list is full we'll add names to the waiting list as there are always cancellations. You do not have to have a modified MINI to participate, stock cars are more than welcome and have walked away with trophies!!
We need to be in place by 7:30 AM so....
The NEW plan is to meet at Speedway Harley Davidson (just East of 85 off Bruton Smith Blvd.) here is a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=...,0.020921&z=16
Meet here around 6:00am and caravan the last couple of miles by about 6:30 as we need to be in place by 7:30. Entrance passes and car tags will be handed out at the theater.
Be sure to bring chairs, drinks, munchies and whatever cleaning gear you think you may need for last minute polishing. We would love to see some new faces attend, and promise a good time!! Come on out!!

I will be out of state for this event, but good luck to everyone who goes and you will have a great time. Might as well sign up for the EUROS on sunday cause if you win Best of Show you have to come back Sunday and might as well win a couple times.
New info / updates
See original post, I have added some new info / changes (in pink) from the meeting last night. Most importantly our meeting spot for the morning has changed.
Thanks,
Mark

If you are not yet a member you will have to fill out your application and waiver beforehand. We are finalizing the new documents now so they should be up shortly under the membership info post at the top of the M2C2 forum (I will post when the new forms are up). Thanks!

Sometimes I hate People
Well even though I am a Tennis Pro and work for myself, I informed my students that I was not going to be teaching saturday and they were all pissed. Not because of missing this one saturday but spring break starts the following weekend and I will be gone the 16th through the 23 which means that if I don't teach this coming saturday they will miss 3 weekends of lessons instead of just 2. But it is ok if these people go out of town often and cancel their lessons. So I am still on the fence about teaching or doing the autofair. I really want to do it. I have had to back out a couple of other times. What would you guys do? Just say tough it, they can get over it. I never cancel lessons, the only time is when I go out of town on vacation once maybe twice a year.

You obviously have to do what is best for you....but we would love to have you at the show, it has been a while and your car/trailer combo is very cool. BUT, we will understand if you can't make it considering that is how you make a living! Just look at it this way, if you don't give lessons for 3 weeks you will have 3 times the knowledge to pass on when you return!
Hope you can make it!
Mark
