5'th Annual MINI Boo Run - Gatlinburg, TN -- Anyone up for a Road Trip
I noticed that in past years, the event participants have stayed at the Americana Inn-Parkway in Pigeon Forge. I'm holding tentative reservations there for Saturday night. The internet rate was $85.00 and their direct line is 1-865-219-4606 but I made reservations through the link listed on the Smokey Mtn Minis website.
correction!!! I rechecked the Smokey Mtn Minis site for the run and it appears they have stayed at the Amnericana Gazebo Inn in Gatlinburg, 417 Historic Nature Trail...865-436-2222. I just called them and they have plenty of rooms...a suite with a fireplace and jacuzzi runs $79.95 (less for a regular room). The person who answered said they had plenty of rooms and we could get a block for a discount when I told her we would need probably 10 to 15 rooms. In any case, I would be more than happy to call about this....if someone will do a bit more research and let me know if this sounds like a place we would like to stay...but they do not allow pets. So we may want to keep looking.

PS. When does Floyd get your MINI and you get a new one???
Hi folks - this sounds like a great event!
Just FYI - this IS the same weekend of MINIs Slay the Sleeping Dragon - so there will be quite a few folks from several clubs across the Southeast at Fontana Friday and Saturday night. Open to all... so feel free to swing by there if schedules permit! Some folks from MSSD may choose to go over to Gatlinburg for the Boo Run, too!

Hey Paul
Thanks Paul I knew someone would see this and be able to tell me. Dang, I wish there were more weekends to go around. I know I am big enough to do both events but unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out how to become an amoeba and split in two. Hopefully we can all run across each other that weekend == how close is the Dragon to Gatlinburg? It is also a weekend where the ZSCCA has a fall run with the BMW Z cars. Can't drive both MINI and the Z unfortunately. I know MINI people are cool, so I have to do the fall color run another year..... I love the fall in the mountains.

PS. Thanks for telling the guys at MITM about the car seats, I passed along the info I had to him and added some pics to the gallery for him to see.

They are holding a block of 10 rooms for us at the rate of $69.95 so go ahead and call individually to book your room. The phone number is 865-436-2222. The rooms are all non-smoking doubles....since that is what they have the most of...and they should be close together. If you need something else, just let them know.
P.S. about MY mini....Floyd's not getting it...besides, he wants a Harley.

P.P.S. The rooms are being held under the name "M2C2" so you'll have to mention our club name to get that rate (I think it's almost $20 under the regular rate). And luck for them, they said the timing is perfect since they have another big group coming in on the 27th that's booked the entire hotel!

So it's quite do-able to make a Dragon run on a Gatlinburg trip... or vice-versa!We'll be convoying up I-40 from Winston Salem to Asheville on that Friday, late morning. We'll be coming back mid-day on Sunday from Fontana, to Asheville, to the Triad. If anyone wants to join up with us for part or all of the route, feel free!
Thanks for posting pics of your seats... they're fantastic!
No, I won't be bringing Roscoe. Not sure how he would do on an overnight trip. For now, he just goes on errands and day trips. He did very well today at Discount Tire while waiting for the tires rotation and balance.
Hi Folks, Like Art said: too many events and too little time!!! Sheroyn and I have a room reserved at Fontana for the Mini's Slay the Dragon the "Boo" weekend; it was truly a great gathering last year with about 60 MINIs. The BOO sounds like fun; maybe like Paul, we can figure a way to do a little of both. I'll work on the plans. PS: Sue were the tires for your MINI; I'm beginning to need some for TILLEY and don't have a clue what to get. TILLEY has run flats now plus a spare. I'd like more comfort and perhaps the larger tire. Any suggestions (from anyone....on tires that is
).
).
Everything you ever wanted to know about tires and some you didn't! ;-)

I'm getting a set of Yokohama S Drives soon, to mount on some 17" Rotas in the garage, haven't had Yokos since my Celica days, and these are getting good reviews, plus Paul/Blimey bought 'em, too.

We will try to make this one .... Sounds like a great time. Art, I think a block of rooms sounds like a great idea. If there are any available - As the time get's closer, I think we can smooth out the details.
Hey ScottCooper...as far as I know there are lots of rooms available in the block. I've only reserved one, and they are holding nine (at $20 less than the rate listed by Smokey Mtn Minis last year!) So you should be good to go if you go ahead and book. We're really looking forward to a fun time!
Hey ya'll. Happy to see your interest in the Boo Run and all are welcome.
I've been changing up the schedule and route a bit to see if I can end it at Newfound Gap at the TN/NC line. That would let anyone wishing to join us from Fontana slide on down the mountain to Cherokee. Not sure if that's going to work out but I'm working on it.
It's dark of the moon so we can raise the hoodlights to help light up the moon from the mountaintop.
