Sad news, but a MINI run to show for it.
Sad news, but a MINI run to show for it.
Guys and Gals, I have got my orders and will be reporting to Ft. Monroe on Monday. It has been great meeting all of those I have, and I am sure the folks I haven't met are just as great of a friendly bunch as those I have met. I am doing something of a short notice run this Saturday if that is ok with all of you. No limit of MINIs and since Trixxie loves to go into the mtns and on twisties. Looking at Ceaser's Head to Brevard and out on towards Rosman and back to Greenville. I will post an official "Root" here as soon as I get the old map out. I may reverse this trip plan, but will post asap. If someone would liek to help with any information of a food stop, it would be helpful as I haven't been out this way in several years.
Run will be the 08MAR08
Ok, here is the planned root. I am figuring stop at the Dillard House to eat, haven't been there since I was a kid. It is about $30 a person, but if you leave hungry, its your own fault. If the Dillard House isn't exceptable due to price, it shouldn't be to hard to find somewhere else to eat. If someone does have a better idea for a place to, let me know. Meeting time will be 1000 and we should depart about 1030ish. Can someone send me a copy of the liabilty disclaimer form please. I will provide a root plan for everyone that lets me know they will be attending, plus add a few more copies should anyone decide after 5pm Friday they wish to attend. If anyone has radios, bring them, I dont have any and dont know what type to purchase.

Great meeting you and hope you'll be back in our area soon. I think Ft Monroe is in Louisiana? If so your still not to far away and keep in touch with us on the NAM. My son, who is in AF (21 YEARS) just got orders to Japan for a 3 year tour and his oldest is starting HS. He will find out in two weeks if he makes E-8 but they want him to re-up and take the assignment 1st so he decided to get out. He will be leaving the AF one day and coming back as a civilian doing the same job for higher pay? Go figure? As an x military I will keep you in my prayers and wish you all the best. Please keep in touch with us. Luther (Luke) Shields, Prez m2c2.org

You'll be missed, upstate SC motoring just won't be the same without ya!
However congratulations are in order since this move will be a positive change for you!
We can come on Saturday...at least I think that is the plan, 'roadodendron' is checking his schedule and is gonna get back to me later today.
Update: just checked with da man and yes, we can make it!
Maybe we'll see you at Deals Gap someday? Yeah I know its a 8+ hour drive from Ft. Monroe, but ya gotta go to Minis on the Dragon at least once!

Be careful of the crazy Subaru club that will be in the area -
Their CCSC club is doing the following run:
starting at 276 north from Brevard to 215
215 to rosman with a short hop on
64 to 178 to Hwy 11 in South Carolina
then back on 276 to Brevard.

Hey guys, mayby not the Dillard House, price involved, but we will deffinately stop somewhere to eat. Good to see you can make it Mellotron. And yes Ft Monroe is in VA, just outside VA Beach. And no I wont forget bout you guys. I am gonna try to make to make it down here from time to time as I have family and very close friends in the area.
Dillard House is a go. My wife will not be joining due to a sister coming to visit. So dar it is myself and Mellotron going. Any more takers? If the weather is super nice, there will be a stopover at the Cold MTN overlook for a few quick photos. It isnt to far out of Brevard for those who haven't been there. 2 more days till the run, then the big move the day after.
This has become a Charity run of sorts.

There's 2 of us going, but only 1 mini. roadodendron is my husband, who will actually be driving. If I had mine I would drive it too, even though you two would totally leave me in the dust!
Sorry you wife cant make it, hope we get some other Upstaters to join us.

Mellotron and I had a great time today! Motoring though drizzle, snow and intermittent sun made for some beautiful views! The Dillard House needs to be included in another motoring event this year. Great food and great company!
Glad you kids had a safe and good trip. We ate at the Dillard House on our Mini Love Run to Helen, Georgia. I didn't like it cause I ate to much and wanted to take a nap instead of driving, hehehehe! We will miss you all and good luck on new assignment Phillip!
Glad yall had a good time. I am up in the Hampton Roads area at the moment. I have an apartment and will be moving in tomorrow, atleast partially. I will be back down soon to get the rest of my belongings and my wife. I will be around for events, even if they are mainly out of the NE portion of NC.
Hey Phillip, take it easy up there, its been great meeting you and taking a few runs with you. Stay safe, and if you ever get down to Fort Jackson, look us up at the Chaplain School. We'd love to get together for another fun time.
Phillip
I lived in Va Beach for 3 years... they were the best years of my life to date although it was a pre-MINI time. I love the area. I hope you all have a great time.
Hope you get back to our area soon. Maybe when the world record attempt is tried again up there, a bunch of your M2C2 family members can visit and help break the record.
