Yes he has! Considering I had the 1st MINI for over a year and didn't have anything done to it, Weebiscuit is on a roll! lol
Anna, I'm hijaaking your thread, 'cause I didn't want to start a new one for this, and I did want to post it! ;-)
MINICHI's birthday present is that I've finally put the double pin angled side stripes from Aesthetic Creations on her. The pic doesn't do it justice, I've decided to embrace the silver, and the silver stripes look great with the wheels, beltline, etc. Hence my choice of this thread--I'm not going black, even though I think it does look more menacing, and great...
It isn't a great job, (lots of bubbles, not in the same place on both sides of the car, screwed up the outer pinstripe around the gas cap--actually forgot that was there, that's why they're not in the same place), that would drive a lot of you perfectionists nuts, but I've worked hard to stop being so ****, so I'm embracing the minor defects, too. ;-)
You'll see it tomorrow and Saturday...remember, don't be hatin' b/c I'm not a perfectionist any more! ;-)

823 is my racing number--and my anniversary! ;-)

I just hate to burn a new post over this, so let's keep this one going. Also, this WURST brand trim paint is a must for anybody "blacking out" their MINI.
Good news and bad news! The vents came out great, however, I decided to remove the grill, PITA, and remove more fake chrome--voila! It's now MINICHE with a pencil thin moustache!

Maybe it's Boris from Bulwinkle? Whatever it is, it's NOT GOOD! ;-)
I'm in the process of fixing it now, will post pics later, just thought any midday surfers might get a kick out of it!
All better, I think? Honest opinions are welcome, and you won't hurt my feelings if you tell me I should have just painted the whole grill. I just want something different, and I sure got it, just not sure I like it?

Yes, all you perfectionists, I know the "TOW" is crooked. ;-) I'm kind of going for the that race car look where there are chips and imperfections b/c the car's tracked. Once it is more, it'll be moreso and less contrived and hey, at least I'm not putting spray on mud on my truck to feign a recent wheeling trip. (Yes, they sell the stuff!)
Most importantly this WURST brand trim paint is excellent!

Looks good to me... where did you find this Wurst paint? What prep methods did you use, and was it difficult to work with? Knowing me I'd flub it up and have a permanant black mark on the paint somewhere.
But I would love to paint the chrome on my own grill, to match the painted slats.

Saw this on another thread here on NAM, the guy has done his whole car and it looks great.

I also bought it from MinSpeed/MyMINI, $13 for the can, and $7 for shipping, arrived within two days. It's called Wurth Satin Black Trim paint.
http://www.minspeed.net/WSBP.htm
It sprays on just like rattle can only less over spray, so it's actually very easy to use.
The only prep I did was to wipe it down with rubbing alchohol to get the bugs off!
To do the upper, I took the grill out, took this piece off and painted it, to do the lower, I masked the car with electrician's tape and what I call Visquine, that plastic sheeting I know you've seen.
I put two thin coats. We'll see how well it holds up, being on the front of the car and all.
I'm figuring all this will come out for an Aero grill sometime anyway, so I'm just screwing around with a $20 / 2 hr attempt at giving MINICHI a moustache and goatee!
Also as somebody somewhere pointed out, it's not really chrome, it's some form of fancy plastic, but we can all just call it chrome, we all know the bits we're talking about.
One final note, if you do take the grill out, use a flat head screw driver between the grill and bonnet, to apply pressure to the grill, to get these crappy extruded "nuts" off these crappy plastic "bolts". You'll see what I mean. ;-) Of course, I won't hear the rattle if it does, b/c of the CAI and Invidia!

I have some pictures posted on Flickr, and instead of trying to stick them in here, I thought I'd just toss the link out for anyone who wants to see
I'm loving the look so far!!!

did my beltline with some good old fashion electrical tape for under $2. perfect size and it is holding strong for about 6 months with a weekly automatic car wash!

Ever thought of just painting wheels black? Did my all Electric Blue and just painted the wheels to match and seems to have caught on as there have been several other do the same thing.
BLACKOUT TRIM LONGEVITY QUESTION
Have any of you installed the blackout trim kit, then gone through a winter, (or winters), on roads that are salted?
I ask because my MINI is my daily driver, which I drive all year long, through rain, sleet, snow, slush, and salty road spray. I drive in hot summers, and below-zero winters. I would want to know if this vinyl tape stands the test of time, and the elements!
Does it fade, does the adhesive wear off, does it bubble up???
Can anyone testify to its' long-term durability???

this is my first winter with the S, i am in the chicago area, and YES it has been holding up to -23 windchill, snow, rain, ice storms and currently poor Mighty looks like a salt lick. i didnt actually do the "kit". i went to a vinyl shop for everything BUT the beltline and yes the roll of electrical tape on the beltline is holding up beautifully since august. that was the very first chrome reduction. LOL
well yes and no. i did in the beginning but i am not a big fan of the wheels to begin with so i figure why bother - they will soon be my winter wheels without a powder coat or paint job.
