PC track time

update, next event October 17th 2010
Hello all, this is a very rare chance for you to play on the BMW Performance Center track. You have to be a BMWCCA member of the sandlapper chapter.

Kick butt event. you have what is a 1.5 mile track that they call a "very fast long" autocross. if you can swing it, it's an aweseome event that you need to make happen. Later.

I edit this post and change the date when i find out about a new one. Usually it's two events a year. spring and fall.

please skip to post #185 for upcoming event babble

Here is the e-mail below

I just received confirmation that we will be holding our 3rd autocross at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, SC, on Sunday, June 24th. The event will happen rain or shine, high attendance or low. I know this is late notice, but the date just became available. Here are the main details:
Date: Sunday, June 24, 2007
Time: 8am 'til 5pm (or when you've had enough!)
Location: BMW Perf. Ctr., Hwy 101 South, Greer, SC
Track: 1.5 mile newly extended course.
Number of runs: Everyone should get at least 6 runs on this course, more and/or fun runs if time allows.
Car Restricitons: BMWs and New MINIs only (yes, open top BMW/MINs and SAVs are welcomed as equipped from the factory or with modifications.)
Registration: Pre-registration only!
Deadline: Your registration form MUST be received by June 20th.
Cost: $40 BMW CCA member; $50 non-member
Guests: We will allow one driving non-BMW CCA member guest per member driver. Your guest MUST be driving a BMW or New MINI in the event.
Minimum Driver Age: 16 with valid driver's license (16 & 17 year-olds MUST have a parent/guardian present to sign a waiver, NO exceptions.)
Helmets: REQUIRED, must be M or SA rated for 95, 2000, or 2005. 5 Loaners will be available thru the day, but if you have your own, please bring it.
Clothing: Dress for the weather.
Pre-Event tech inspection: NOT REQUIRED, we will do a quick tech check on site at the event. Cars should have no corded tires and no excessively leaking fluids.
Passengers: ARE allowed for instructional purposes only.
Lunch: On your own at one of the area's fine dining facilities.
Refunds: Sorry, no such luck. Your schedule, health, and car maintenance are not under my control.
Waivers: EVERYONE ON SITE is REQUIRED to SIGN the liability WAIVERS!!!

That should address most of the pre-event questions. Attached is the registration form. I'm sure the late notice of this event will restrict the number of participants on it's own without me having to set a limit. I anticipate anywhere from 30-60 drivers to attend this event, probably more towards 30 or 40, but there's nothing wrong with being optimistic!

I will also need a few people to help out with the event in the following areas: registration, tech, timing/scoring, starting line, and helmets. If you are interested in helping out, please send me a reply noting as to what area you'd like help, and I'll send you the details. Being involved in registration and tech inspections require you to show up early. Thank you, and I hope to see many of you there.

One last thing, I need to mention this. By participating in this event, you are knowingly and willfully by your own decision putting you and your property at risk. The Club's insurance DOES NOT cover damage done to your car while at the event (i.e., if you run off course and blow a tire somehow, the Club's insurance will not pay for a new tire and/or repair your wheel, nor is the Club in any way responsible for anything that happens to your car.) Most everyone's auto insurance policy is not applicable during competitive events and/or events that are run for time or position (i.e. racing!) This is one of those events. If you wreck it (by some off-tangent strand of crappy luck), it's your dime that fixes it. Also, if you create or are involved in any damage or defacing to the event site (grounds/buildings/other facilities/properties), YOU will be responsible for cost of repairs, NOT the CLUB. Please be sure you understand this prior to registering/attending this event. This also applies to guests/spectators cars as well (i.e. a collision between their car and another car or their car and a building, etc.) The Club is NOT responsible or liable for the cause or repairing of your/their personal property. Thank you.

It's lots of fun. More importantly, you will learn car control. Mike is a great instructor and I can help out also. I've been instructing for a few different clubs for a while. teen schools included.

Too late?

Is it too late?

I just heard about this.

Roger Phillips sent me an app.

I notice it calls for a check, no credit cards. If I mail the check on Monday, that's cutting it really close.

Would it help if I faxed the app. along with a photo of the check, or are we good to go with mailing it Monday to the address on the app?

sorry, no there's not. If you have to google the sandlapper chapter of the BMW CCA and look for a link in there.

Hope to see all of you there. I might have my car back the Friday before but it will not be tack ready for another week. Gotta break it in correctly. I'll have a few BMW friends there that will let me drive their cars, I think....

Lots of fun.

Two of us from Hotlanta are in.

From the looks of the weather forecast, it might be SparkyBurg. Anyway, it'll be hot.

Are there any areas that offer a respite from the sun?

shade

They will have a few tents set up by the Start/Finish line with chairs. If you get there early enough you can actually get a parking spot under the huge carport they have. It is a blast and they day just flys by. Be sure to get a ride with Mike in the M5. He's really the only person you can grab a ride with since he runs the event for BMW. At the end of the day we usually have time for fun runs. In the past you've been able to ride with others if during that.

Thanks!

I'll try to get there by 7:30 or so. Shade under the carport sounds cool, literally!
