Nice, did you get new stock rims? JCW?

Minnie.the.Moocher 04-26-2019 10:41 AM

Welcome, tell me about the lowering springs and big pair? How different is the driving experience? Did you DIY or who did you use for install?

Weather has finally turned so good driving days now! Except for the pot holes and slow movers ahead.

RoseCityMini 04-26-2019 10:52 AM

After the lowering springs and big pair I have felt a little wheel wobble, kinda randomly. Its nothing violent but it wasnt there before. They where put on by MINI of Portland.I had there Tech drive the car said it was nothing to worry about, also had one of Craven Speeds tech drive and said nothing to worry about. Im still worried.

RoseCityMini 04-26-2019 10:53 AM

They basically said they should settle after time

RoseCityMini 04-26-2019 10:59 AM

lightsight is the best thing for bigger drivers of small cars. I'm 6'4" so i'm maxing out the space of the car for sure. It lets you see streetlights, small sticker on your windshield that magnifys the light.

Chimex is a seatbelt clip you put in your passenger seat so when I have my golf clubs on it the seatbelt warning doesnt go off

Jam handle is on the inside of door seal so you dont have to touch your cars paint to shut the door (excessive i know) will be put to use for sure once the car is wrapped

ill put up pictures gimme a sec

RoseCityMini 04-26-2019 11:00 AM

Has anyone else had a little wheel wobble after lowering springs?

Ah - that makes sense. I typically close the door via the exterior handle, so I'm good there. I don't play golf and I am 5'6". Sounds like I'm okay without these mods.

Altecfenix 04-26-2019 11:23 AM

I know this car ;)
Need to get me some black trim from MoP soon.

RoseCityMini 04-26-2019 11:54 AM

Thanks again for the bumper recall heads up!!! Save that money

Yup, JCW. The wheels are made by Fast. not sure which model. Picked them up cheap with curb rash and repaired them.

I've heard some people have issues with CV joint. Not sure how it manifests itself, but could be something like a wobble I'd guess. But it's really when going too low with coilovers, like 2" plus. I don't know that it would show up with just spring level. But maybe your axles were made on a Friday afternoon or something... Maybe you can find someone with bad CV experience if you search here.

Hope it's not that- good luck!

Give it some time and I bet it goes away. If it won't go away after a few weeks, let's say, then it'll probably be something to look into. I'm not sure how the springs would cause a kind of wobble, I'd wager on installation if anything, but crazier things have happened.
I'd be curious to drive it myself and feel what you're feeling.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Nice looking car. $3K in four months? That’s a good start.

I will bring it by the shop in a couple weeks if it feels better or not, if not you can take it for a spin.

Killer!

Hello, if you find some time please bring your MINI to MINI of Portland and I will have our Shop Forman drive with you. I am certain we can identify the cause. I have not heard that concern before so I think an inspection and test drive makes sense.

I installed the Craven intake and Forge intake pipe at the same time so i couldnt tell you the difference. All i know is now its loud, i love the almost snake like noise of it, then the wastegate when you let off the gas. You have a long list of mods, got any pics? would like to see that front splitter thinking about getting yours or AC.

Wheel Wobble

there should be absolutely NO wobble after the suspension work. Take it back and demand they make it right. This is not acceptable and may be unsafe. Lowering springs only lower the center of gravity of the car. They do not affect rotational mass, tire deflection, steering or toe. They do affect camber which may need to be adjusted. Bottom line is that a wheel wobble is related to mounting the wheel to the front hubs or the steering. You did not say if the wobble is front or rear? My bet is that (if there are wheel spacers) that something is not installed correctly. Worst case is that a wheel gets loose...and falls off.

I'm probably going to get hate for putting the JCW grill on, but my red grill stripe from outmotoring kept on failing in a good year. Happened 3 times. Quick pic of the splitter
