My 2009 Mini Cooper S R56 “Fun Car” Build

Hey guys I just picked up a 2009 Cooper S 6 Speed Manual picked up dirt cheap off a friend that was going to trade it in... So I picked it up March 2, 2019 with 131,000 highway miles and all maintenance records. He owned the car since 16,000miles. Car has a small oil leak (believe to be turbo line but I’m diagnosing tomorrow with white paper spread all over the ground to pinpoint the leak). Most of the major maintenance was covered under the 120,000 mile warranty the car had. I’ll post more info about it as I go but here was when I got it home!!

The original stripes had to go first thing first day. They were cracked weathered discolored and a pain to get off. Lots of rock chips as the car saw 500 miles a week highway. No more of that!! Need to really get this paint to shine.

3/3/19 Picked up these wheels and tires 2 months ago up in Wisconsin when I found a great deal on 5 Kosei K4R wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires since I knew I was eventually getting this car (or another Cooper S). Tires basically brand new for an autocross setup. TPMS were installed. Put them on 3/3/19

3/3 Couldnt help myself... plastidipped the chrome on the front end. Doing all the rest of the chrome tomorrow

3/6 No more chrome. Lights yellowed out with duplicolor chromecast,. Mirror caps dipped grey. More to come

3/8/19 Front Lip installed. Using my Compact car privileges

Cant wait to get the performance mods going. Keeping it modest. Covering the reliability things ASAP here addressing the leak, catch can, etc. but thinking when I pull the downpipe to fix what I believe is the turbo line leak I might as well go aftermarket!! Thanks guys

Thanks! Yea it’s going to be fun. 1st priority is get these leaked sorted. About to go take a look and see if I can figure out where it is coming from. I cleaned up everything last night a put some underpayment paper down. The night before it leaked a quarter size spot right up front.
