Ok, awesome. Good to know that we don't have to use the dealer. Thanks!

Awesome MINI! Nicely done!

Just finished installing the AWE Tuning CF intake system and re-installed my NM Power Module. The intake looks and sounds great. Thanks to Josh at AWE for the great customer service. I didn't realize how much I missed my power module until I re-installed it. Put about 30-40 miles on it so the ECU could relearn and it screams again!:nod::thumbsup:

Next up is installing all the suspension goodies. They won't arrive for a few days anyway, but I'm still gonna wait until Helix releases their adjustable control arms before I start on the suspension. Eric says they should be out for the Dragon.

Correction: That means the Helix intercooler is next up, since I'm taking delivery and having it installed at the Dragon.

Looking Great. Did the stock mini wheel centers fit your new ones?

Sadly, no.

Eventually I'm having a red pinstripe added to the outside edge of the wheels and will probably just have them paint the center caps at the same time.

rcsummers 04-02-2016 08:33 AM

This is all too good!!

USA-RET 04-02-2016 08:56 AM

Lovin' that AWE CF Intake Whitey.
(a shame the bonnet covers it).

It's only money and they're printing more.

A few more mods in the works. Just have to wait until after MOTD to get everything installed. I have on hand NM springs, rear sway bar, end links, and adjustable rear control arms. On order as of today is the JCW big brake kit, NM stainless brake lines. RSe05 17" wheels, strut bar, and billet mounts with grease fittings for the 22mm rear sway bar.
I should be able to swap out the wheels before the Dragon. While I'm there Helix will be installing one of their new intercoolers and doing some coding for me. I'll post pics of the work as it progresses. After this I'll probably do a couple of cosmetic adjustments and that should finish the car mods for a while.

Looks great. What rear sway bar and end links did you go with?

vetsvette 05-03-2016 06:50 AM

NM 22mm solid with the NM end links.

Does installing a power module effect the gas mileage you get?

vetsvette 05-09-2016 08:51 PM

It all depends on how heavy your right foot is.

These seven boxes of goodies will have to wait until after MOTD. The JCW brakes should be in by next week too.

Thanks for the suggestion, but one of those boxes has a set of NM stainless lines in it.

Thanks. I actually was going to go with a red "MINI" cap, but they wouldn't fit the wheel according to my parts guy. Kinda glad now since I really like the looks of the caps I got.

02fanatic 05-10-2016 10:50 AM

Those wheels with the JCW center caps are going to look sweet on your JCW!

Had time today to get the wheels changed. They'll look better with the Brembo brakes. Maybe next week. Gotta get ready to leave for the Dragon now.

Really like wheels.

Go slay the Dragon bud, but do so safely

ECSTuning 05-11-2016 01:16 PM

Be careful down there , say goodbye to the tire tread after the dragon ;)

While at MOTD I had Helix install one of their new intercoolers for me.

In the beginning... hidden behind this not so subtle imitation of a Hoover vacuum lies the stock I/C.

The bare front end after stock I/C was removed.

The two I/C's side by side. Helix on the left.

Preparing to mount the new I/C and the last pic is as they were cinching it down.

Thanks to the guys at Helix for a seamless install and some great coding, and thanks Eric for the great deal on the pre-order of the new I/C.

What benefits are gained in putting in a new intercooler? Less chance of your car over-heating?

The intercooler has nothing to do with overheating. It cools the air charge that enters the intake. The cooler the charge, the denser the air, and the more fuel that can be burned. This results in more power. Forced induction engines (turbo and supercharged) benefit greatly from cooler intake air. A larger intercooler allows for greater performance.
