2 Years & 60,000 Miles in my MINI-E

Yesterday was two years to the day I picked up my MINI-E. It's been a fantastic car to drive and It still has the same power and range as the day I picked it up and that's after over 1,100 recharges and 60,000 miles of driving!

I wrote a blog post about it if anyone is interested: MINI-E 2 Year Wrap-Up

Ok, curious....when you turn the "E" in where does it end up? BMW has done a great marketing job for those interested in going electric and for you taking the plunge into a new frontier.

,
BMW is conducting these trials in seven different countries and are adding new markets every six months or so. The cars that are returned from the US get refurbished and sent to other countries. They recently started a program in Japan, and in a few months China will get another 50 cars. After that, they haven't announced, but I hear Russia is a possibility.
So far, other than the US, they have had MINI-E programs in: The UK(twice), Germany(twice), Spain, France, Japan & China.

Very interesting. Can you compare the electric MINI to a regular one? acceleration, handling, etc?

Interesting. I want a mini E. If I cant buy one. I am going to convert a mini. My current S just keeps going. But energy prices fluctuate too much for my budget. I just put a huge solar system on my house. I want the sun to power my commute.

I would never drive any off the current electrics on the market. they are fugly and lack personality, well save for the tesla. But I can afford that one.

That's exactly how I power my MINI-E and soon I'll be driving a BWM ActiveE and powering it by sunshine also! Here's a picture from my blog with me & my MINI-E with my house and solar array in the background. I haven't bought gas in 2 1/2 years now and I've driven nearly 70,000 miles on sunshine!

I would love a mini E. sad to say their not available anymore, is their a way to convert a current mini s into electric. I'm tired of making the middle eastern more rich.

Alas, the MINI-E program is coming to an end after 2 1/2 years. It was originally only supposed to be a one year project but lasted 2 1/2 years because it was such a success.

I drove my MINI-E 72,520 miles in 31 months and was presented the keys to the first BMW ActiveE electric car by BMW NA president Ludwig Willisch on Friday, January 13th. I've has the car a couple days now and just posted my initial thoughts on the car on my ActiveE blog if anyone is interested the link is below. I was proud to be a member of the MINI community here for the past few years and I wish everyone happy motoring!
