I'm sure they did, but unfortunately battery technology has yet to find a cure for their propensity to loose capacity in cold temperatures. Still believe as a trial it is better that they did so now rather than waiting a decade until the technology is perfect.

If you read the comments, the post is actually from GM - they included a battery warmer in the Volt, which of course also has a gas engine to recharge the batteries..........
Extreme cold and hot both will be a challenge for all electric cars - the key is still in the battery technology - we're not there yet.
