My first Mini - Northern MN

I have been wanting a Mini for several years. Well, a couple of weeks ago I picked up an '06 MC. It's hyper blue with a black top. I have been using NAM as a reference, trying to learn as much as I can about the car and some of the greats mods and customizations I am eyeing. So far I have learned a lot, but I am sure I will learn more going forward!

I need to get some pictures of it when I have some time. Been busy just enjoying the drives... Once I get some, I will be sure to post a few.

Haha I don't blame you. It must be hard enough stepping out of the Mini after a fun drive!

It has been difficult, I take the longer route to and from work now...more curves, less stops and far more enjoyable. I have never driven a car that is this much fun to drive...:D

cold weather

Just came across your post and I was wondering how your car was performing in the cold winter weather? I live in Northern BC and I don't have a block heater in my R56. Are you close to the Canadian border? Good luck with your car.

Well, so far in Northern MN here, we have not had too bad of a winter so far. Only hitting below 0 Fahrenheit a few times so far. It has preformed just fine. I don't have a block heater on mine either, but I have a garage for the car and wasn't sure if I would need it.

Unfortunately, I ended up in a ditch last week after hitting a slick spot on the road, no real bad damage, but did damage the passenger door . So it is in the shop right now getting that fixed. I hope to have it back by mid-next week.

I am about 2 hours from the Canadian Border.

Sorry to hear of your accident. The reason that I asked about the Canadian border is that I used to live in Winnipeg and I know how cold it can get in the winter. Hope you get your car back soon. I really like driving mine on the winding mountain roads up here.

This is my first winter with the MC. Winter up here can get cold, I suppose Winnipeg only get colder being even further north. I am not originally from MN, lived here for 15 years or so now. I am still finding it difficult to get used to winters

This is my first winter with our 2007 Mini S, so I am learning also. It does not get very cold up here, even though we are very far north. We are about a 5 hour driver to Haider Alaska. Lots of snow here. We are planning to return to Winnipeg this summer after 5 years in BC, so I will have to get a block heater of some sort installed. Our nearest dealership from where I live is in Kamloops BC, which is a 12 hour drive on the twisty highways up here. My mini currently has 23000 miles on the odometer. Went from a big Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited to a mini. Premium gas here is $1.45/litre. Multiply that by 4 and you would get the approximate cost per US gallon.
