Wow! How come every month I submit a photo, there are a ton spectacular entries. They're all great...good luck to everyone.

Not to jump into anything, but if you need I can also attest that wingnut's photo was taken this month.

Not sure if it's ok to say so.. but I voted for #7. I really liked the sky versus the color of the MINI. Liked the washed out look and way the MINI pops forward.

Wow, I feel like I'm viewing an Arizona Highways Mini Calendar here. Very nice photos everyone!

I can start to see a sunrise or sunset on the very colorful photo #2. I wonder how much more there is if the photo was adjusted a bit more.

Photo #3 has a cool composition and I look forward to it being posted later on in a much bigger resolution. All that comes to mind is Mini Grand Tetons.

Photo #4 is my favorite. I'm always a sucker for the 50-50 mix of red and green.

Photo #5 makes me so homesick for AZ (but still not for PHX). My gosh, how'd you keep those white wheels so sparkling clean? Lower the camera position a slight bit and this is perfect for Arizona Highways magazine.

Photo #7 has great colors. Looks like the photographer is having the same issues in PS that I'm having while making adjustment layers and getting halos around the brighter objects; if true, PM me and I'll be happy to share what I've figured out so far.

Photo #8 Steep mountains + dirt roads + cliff edges = fun motoring!

Geeee, which one could be Kurt's photo???

Didn't you know that anthracite S-lights were an option on the 06 models.

Thanks for sharing everyone!

I'm not going to vote this month. I have most every other month, unless someone can time date my vote, I have never voted for myself

#7 and 12 both have that HDR "feel" to them. Perhaps they could've benefitted from multiple exposures and then blended using Photomatix.

Personally, I think HDR images are becoming a bit ubiquitous, especially on Flickr.

Being a Californian, I liked seeing the Bixby Bridge in Pic 12 but felt the MINI was too prominent for a landscape pic. (I did like how the sky was burned in some. ) But I'll be darned if I don't have bias toward Arizona scenery. Like Speednut Dave mentions, it's that Arizona Highways influence.

The choice this month is still difficult.
I really like #5 simply because of the location. I want to know if the wheels were wiped down, not a bad idea to carry a rag for this reason.
The landscape in #12 is awesome, if you're into greenery and water.
I am not a computer geek, so am at a disavantage with the fancy post processing discussion. Makes it more important to get a decent shot to begin with!
I'm thrilled that I'm not dead last this month! Thanks for the votes.

The wheels in #5 were not wiped down. We had just happened to wash the car when we stopped for lunch in New Mexico (I can't remember if it was that day or the day before), and somehow the wheels magically stayed clean. Adjusting the white balance helps a bit too.

For this being my first contest, and only about my third month of photography, I gotta say I'm exstatic about how well my photo is doing. Thanks guys!

2ndMiniac - Well done, I'm just amazed that your wheels stayed that clean with the red dirt/dust everywhere. I've always heard it's a PITA to keep the white wheels clean; you're just proving it can be done. Again, great job on the photo too. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

STER AG - Thanks for the compliment on my sig photo. Had to resize a new one so I could comply with site rules. If you're interested, please look in my gallery for a desktop sized version of my sig photo.

Cheers,
Dave

There are many fine entries this month. IMHO: 4, 6 & 11 stand out. Tough choice.

speednut: I checked out your gallery and I thought the sig was cool but the desktop version is awesome! Your image has a great feel or mood.

I guess Dave is right when he says,
As a photographer you're not trying to take pictures, you're trying to make them. It's not a passive thing. You want to create a scene. That means car placement, background, people, weather, mood, and timing.
I have to say that with all the misunderstandings with the rules and camera date clocks being out of whack this photo contest is really fun. Dave is doing a great job and you are always going to have misunderstandings from time to time. Maybe one month Dave will let us break all the rules and have a free for all. No topic, just post what you feel is your best image ever, photoshoped, chopped cropped sliced and diced? lol

I think this is an excellent suggestion. To me, art is art....no matter when it is made. I would like to see a more flexible attitude regarding what is, after all, a fun monthly event.

Tough decision between 12 and 5. I ended up going for 12 because I thought it had the best Landscape, though it had a bit to much Mini in it. #5 had just the right amount of Mini in it and it was well positioned but the landscape would have looked better if it had been more panoramic.

I really like the composition and otherworldly rock formations in picture number 3.
