camelpilot's Minis (pics)
 

We got together a couple nights ago to take some photos of camelpilot's classic Mini and new MINI. The classic is setup as a Mini rally car with a rollcage and was imported to the U.S. by camelpilot. His new MINI has the distinction of being the 500th Randy Webb pulley install. I'll leave it to him to share more details about the cars.

These are all great Dave.
A hint of double yellows in that first pic really adds to it.
Late afternoon light is always a blessing isn't it?

Pic 2- I like how the mirrors are just above the bump stops on the dock (and how they're lined up with that vertical yellow line on the doorway there).

What's that stuff on the third door though? Aluminum foil? Reflective film?

Can't wait to see more when you've finished editing. :thumbsup:

Late afternoon light is great to work with. I only wish we would have had some clouds in the sky to help make our sunsets had been more interesting.

It took a little time to get that one lined up. I'm glad someone appreciated it. :smile:

That door has a stainless steel lining on it (slightly creased and dented). My guess is that it may go straight into a freezer at the fish market.

Hey Dave, love the pics! My favourite is the Camel motion one, and I still don't know how you managed to get it to look like that because there was hardly any light when you took the shot.

I also like that close up one of SKO. Good job man.

Meenee, the classic one is called "SKO". SKO2 is it's UK reg, and also it's Cali Reg. :wink:

No number on door, you only put number on door during race.

Specs of the classic, off the top of my head:

Was originally a 1071cc, but now a 1293cc Longman built A-Series block. 45 Dellorto Carb, Straight Cut Gears, 3.9 Final Drive, 11.5:1 Compression ratio, LSD, twin Gold fuel pumps, 6 pt. I like the motion shot of the BRG. The one of the classic was nicely composed, however I feel like the car just blends in with the background and doesn't stand out. I also feel that in the still shots, b/c the background appears to be so busy, it again makes it hard for the cars to stand out. Rather than compliment each other (background/car), they seem fight over your attention.

I've seen other pictures taken in front of loading docks and it has the same effect....sorry if this sounds a little on the depressing side. The quality of the pics is as expected, very good. It's just the location to me and the sunset factor washing out all the colors...

But hey, that's why we keep shooting right?
