I like it quite a bit.

The sky seems to be a little noisy. You also may want to adjust the levels and try to make the sky a little darker.

The side of you MINI and the trees on the right seem to be pretty underexposed. Either that or they were intentionally adjusted that way, in which case I think you adjusted the levels a little too far. You've got good detail in the tops of the trees, but the lower portion where the trees are thick all detail is totally lost. Now, maybe that's what you were going for, kind of getting the silhouette, but to my eye it would be helped with some of the tree details showing through and not a big black patch. The same goes for the side of the car.

Can you comment on the settings? Also do you have a color version you could post up (I'm assuming it was shot in color first). I'd just like to see the unajusted image.

I wonder if the headlights and foglights complicated the exposure?
Nice setting for the car.

Hi,

It would be nice to see little movement. Maybe rain drops coming down. Short exposure with shutter open for separation of the car from the background so it is not so flat. On the other hand longer exposure while car is moving but you must hold and pan the camera in same direction the car is moving, maybe 1/4 or even 1/2 second. Place the camera down to the ground on top of the tar, use plastic bag, and timer so you do not bump the camera. Try diferent times of the day, like very early in the morning when the light is low in horizon shining thru the trees from back of the car. Use color filters to destort the color. Play with it...Good luck I hope this give you some pointers...

Very nice! I like it too. The BW version has a nice, very emotional feeling. Hahah, am I in a dark mood or what?

I like the composition and the wet ground, though the light reflection seems odd to me--must be the road is canted a bit. I first thought it was the camera that was tilted.

Great perspective!

The road sloped down on both sides which made the angle a little awkward.

I'm just using a simple digital so i dont have control over shutter...i hope to be able to get a nice one like some of the ones on this forum...but money is required

Octane...the emotional thing is sorta what i liked about it too

Thanks again guys...i will try all the suggestions out

I can't comment on the photo qualities but the blacked out grill gives the front of the MINI a catfish look instead of the happy face with the chrome grill. I knew it as soon as I looked that there was something fishy about the photo!

I like it. Nice and moody and atmospheric. I much prefer the b&w version. Maybe some separation between the car and the telephone pole would be nice. The telephone wires are nice, though. It's interesting to cover them up and see how much the picture loses with just a gray sky and without that nice diagonal element.

The photo looks great. I like the underexposed bits on the car and trees. It gives it a "mood." I love seeing the great photos that everyone posts.

Interesting! I am not a photographer, but I am a professional artist. The funny thing is, the very things that DiD critiqued are the very things that to me, make it an emotional and very successful image.

I like the merge of the darks of the trees on the right into that very good abstract shape, as well as the black shape on the side of the MINI. It reads VERY well, compositionally. The barbed wire fence and the telephone wires are really important diagonals and with the curving road, give lots of depth.

Keep it up! Good work!

WOW this is a great Picture....the rule of thirds applies well...adn of course the dark and light contrast is great!!! the second one that is more square completely takes away from the composition....WOW!! I would love a large printed version of this...how much?!

i'm far from being an artist but from a laymans view the black and white version is much more appealing it has a lot of dimension that the color pic ......just much more dramatic considering the tone of the day the color seems to show well....too much color.......

I really like it, a lot. Even the power lines. It has a very hushed, almost ominous feel to it with the barbed wire, the way the
road fades into black on the right, the unsettled look of the sky, and the weirdly spaced fenceposts. Would it be possible to
photoshop in the grim reaper behind the wheel? Or maybe he could be pumping up a tire...

Nice work!

I have to agree about the wires. All the lines lead you to the MINI, including the fence's barbed wire, the road edges, even the wet travel marks, and, of course, all foilage lines.

Excellent shot!

(I bet this would look awesomely eerie if you shot it with infrared film.)
