British Car Day @ Eastwood Lake in Dayton

Is anyone planning on attending the British Car Day in Dayton this year? It will occur on August 2nd from 9-4pm at Eastwood Metropark, located at 1385 Harshman Road, Dayton, Ohio 45431.
More Info HERE & HERE

I'm hoping to have my MC all touched up & clean in order to actually 'enter' the car show this year.

Just curious how many others might be joining me!

I'm planning on going over there. It's a nice show in a very nice park. I believe our welshguy friend will be there along with Paul & Sue.

See you there Robb.

Anyone want to drive over with Babs & I?

August 2nd is coming fast

Bump.....

No one else wants to do this? It's a wonderful show & since it is in Dayton you'll be treated to cars that you normally don't get to see here in Cow Town.

Bump for Tomorrow...

Well, the show is tomorrow!

Looks like my night is going to be full of washing, cleaning, painting and taping! (I'm such a procastinator!)

Hope to see some of you there!

Sorry Robb I have to bail out. My father is having some issues & I'll be in Cleveland instead of Dayton tomorrow. Have fun.

Great day

Wonderful weather, great cars, and MINI owners... what more could you want?!

The British Car Day was a great event this year. I snapped a few shots during the day. See the link below to check them out on my Flickr page. The pics are not 'amazing' quality... but that is what I get for relying on the "auto" setting

All, in all, it was a pleasant 'first-time' car show for us and a spik-n-span MC.

The guy who won last year in the orange cabrio won this year in a new, off the lot, blue Clubman...must be nice to be rollin in the dough that much...or, to have an insatiable urge to always "win".

Oh well that is life in the ultra super competitive world of professional car shows. I wonder if he bought off the judges.

Oh well...lots of people came and took pics of my car and asked a ton of questions, too, so I'm not bitchin. It was a beautiful day there and we were in the shade, for once. I got to see my friends of the people who were there, too, but just wonder if it is worth going to show if the trend is to award prizes to just the newest of the new MINIs. I mean, I keep mine in tiptop condition and have added lots of stuff to it...but all ya need to do anymore is to show up with a new, never-been-modded MINI and ya win...in that respect, it was a waste of time and effort for me.

Of course it is still worth it. You get to have a good time with good people & see lots of interesting cars. Who needs a bowling trophy anyway?

I guess the easiest way to win would be to take a new Mini for a test drive the day of the show and you would begauranteed to have the newest Mini at the show You need a sticker on your car that says "my other car is a Mini" all two Mini owners should have this sticker.

We were at the British Car Day at Ursuline College, Saturday. 9 minis in the "2001-Newer Mini" class. I saw two Clubmans and knew I had no chance....but.... I took third w/my 04 MC - R50, second place also 04 MC, and (insert drum roll) first place went to Tony Burgess - Mini Clubman. He hands out the awards and run the event so I guess I really came in second. I've been to it 3 times now (not in 07) and I remember a Cabrio won in 06. I think I got third b/c of the MID-OHIO Club and Crusty the Clown badges I had on the mini

All I can say...

All I can say regarding the Clubman owner is...

He showed up, pulled up next to my MC, drove OVER one of the little orange 'survey' flags they had marking the rows, backed up with the flag dragging along the side of the Club... My wife and Paul (owns the GreenBay kermit)(sry, don't know last name) just stood there with open jaws! (I was frantically detailing the MC).
'right'

Just thought I'd throw in my 2cents

For what it is worth I think each of your Minis is 10 times better looking than any clubman. Personally I do not see the draw of a little more space when you have to pay for it with terrible rear visability. Maybe they did those doors that way so owners would not feel jipped because their headlights are not attached to the hood, do the new owners manuals tell you it is cool to have holes in your boot and bonnet???

I like Clubman's just fine. What I don't understand is anyone putting a brand new car in a car show regardless of model. I don't get it. It just seems so odd to me.

Edit..... I have nothing against anyone putting their new car is a show to be part of the action. I do it myself, but I choose not to officially enter. I pay my money & parks my nearly new car. Then I go walkabout.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. Losing against peer group cars is part of the game, but I just think it is totally unfair for a brand new car to reap awards when all that was done was to drive it to the show.

It is fair, the rules allow new cars to be judged. Those are the rules of the shows that you enter & they allow it. I don't agree with new cars in shows being judged, but I can't say it's unfair either. You need to talk with the powers that are in charge of the shows & convince them to change the rules for you. I don't think that you stand much of a chance since more than likely they will see your car as virtually new too.

My advice..... Go to the shows you want, hang with your friends, enjoy the cars & camaraderie. In short have fun, don't worry about things you have no power to change. Life is too short for that kind of carp.

Well said! All except for that 'carp' part...

Speaking of 'Cars & comaraderie'... can't wait for the 16th!
