One-ball
One-ball
Has anyone in the LAME mid-Ohio group had the one-ball mod done?
(removal of resonator, please no jokes, Chuck),
just kidding
, I realize I'm leaving myself wide open on this one

Sounds like a challenge......
Man I don't know. I think a silverback would walk with a mighty bad limp if he only one ball down there.
Back on topic .....Exhausting with only one ball.....
I'm not sure how much restriction you will lose when doing that ballectomy mod. My guess is it would remove a fair bit of weight & that's always a good thing on a car. It's also a cheap mod & that is good too.
I have a JCW exhaust & love it. Not too loud & not too quiet, just right.
A big plus is that it weighs much less than the stock exhaust.

I had the one-ball mod done a little while ago. The exhaust note is a little deeper than stock and there seems to be a minor gain in power/torque. I'd rather have a complete exhaust system, such as the Borla, Milltek, or Larini, but the one-ball was an inexpensive alternative.
I thought this thread was going to be about Lance Armstrong.
2 ***** no TDF wins
1 ball 7 TDF wins in a row
Seems like a no brainer to me.

I'm actually looking for a muffler shop that will do this for me... I hear it's trickier on the cabrio, and a MANDREL BENDER will be required if you don't also harvest the cut-off sections for doner parts (which will require much cutting and re-welding). Everyone I've talked to that actually did the MOD liked it - a noticeable goose in power and the exhaust sound is throater without being obnoxious. Crashton's car sounds awesome too, don't get me wrong, but I believe the one-ball is a SMIDGE cheaper than a JCW exhaust setup, right Chuck?
PS - BlimeyCabrio also sanded and painted his remaining, erm... ball... with high-temp, matte black paint, and it REALLY gave the car a nice, pro-looking finish. With the undercarriage pipes basically invisible at any distance, the car looked VERY clean. I'm definitely going to do this as well, once the surgery has been performed.

My JCW was one of those deals that one only hears about. A bit of barter & a $100.00 bucks coming my way for a JCW was a very sweet deal indeed.
That being said, buying a good exhaust is money well spent if you ask me. Before I'd do that I'd have a 15% pulley installed. Intake, pulley & exhaust make our little cars sing a sweet song.
Personally I have nothing against the one ball set up, except for that limp.
